Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

On this walking trip through Monetengro and Croatia we have adapted the itinerary to escape tourist hotspots and overcrowding as much as possible. We stay in Dobrota outside of Kotor and have changed the day the the group walks around Kotor, to avoid weekends crowds.

We have several measure in place on this trip to lower our carbon footprint. Instead of taking our bus directly into traffic choked Dubrovnic the group are dropped off on a hill above the city and walk through the ancient walls to enter on foot. We head off the coast of Croatia to explore the beautiful and less visited islands of Mljet and Korcula, taking public ferries. We spend time walking around the coastline and interior wheres most visitors would arrive on the ferry and stay in the port town.

We encourage all customers to take a reusable water bottle with them when travelling which helps to reduce the number of plastic bottles provided and used locally. Along the trails we take on this trip there are fresh water springs and water fountains to re fill your reusable bottle.

As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

People

We use a local operator and tour leader who have lived in Croatia all their lives and are passionate about their country and showcasing its natural beauty. The majority of the hotels we use are family run and our hoteliers work actively with the local community to source traditional locally produced foods. There is also the option to eat out in local restaurants and bars.

On the island of Korcula, we walk through Lumbarda which is a small fisherman's village situated on the eastern coastline of the island. The picturesque village is well known for its sandy vineyards and a 'unique' white wine known as GRK which our group can sample.

As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
