Itís the little touches that set South Korea apart from more eagerly anticipated Asian alternatives and as you check out our South Korea travel guide ...
The bike is an icon. We all remember the first one we got and that feeling when we pedalled off into the distance, free of stabilisers. And that is wh...
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetTravelling through the remote villages of Korea provide us with the great opportunity to not only enjoy the scenery, but also the cuisine. Due to their isolated locations, all dishes are made with their own locally-grown seasonal ingredients.
Since the focus of this trip is cycling, this is the main mode of transport used and it doesn't use any carbon. A support van is provided to travel only the distance which you will cycle in order to minimise carbon emissions, but also local trains and walking are used through out.
As a travel company we are acutely aware of our impact on the environment. All of our tours display a carbon footprint, and we strive to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our tours and embracing low-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking Ė which offer the added benefit of getting a closer connection with the destination and local community.
We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth.
We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. All of our tour leaders are provided with a Water-to-Go bottle, allowing them to drink safe water from any source when itís not possible to fill up from a tap.
PeopleVisiting small, independent-owned restaurants are an integral part of our itinerary, and this means money goes into the local economy and community. In addition, this provides an authentic Korean meal experience. We endeavour to use locally owned restaurants as much as possible on this trip, Korea is well known for its great food.
Carefully designed to include well managed sites of cultural and natural significance such as Hahoe Mask Museum in Hahoe Village. During these visits we encourage buying something local to not only remember your visit but also help maintain Korean traditions through purchasing locally.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world.
Our local leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travellers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.
