Description of Minho cycling holiday in Northern Portugal
2021: 7 Nov
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWe subscribe to the mission statements of “Responsible Travel” organizations and invite you to take part in this mission with us. Every ride is an ecosystem that needs to be protected to be enjoyed. Nature gives us everything free – we put it at the heart of our company.
The Minho is a magnificent and magical region, a land of green landscapes, elegant green wines (Vinhos Verdes). Minho is like a delicate flower where visitors get inspired by its beauty, an impressive work of Nature. Here, tradition is kept to its most intimate detail and this tells a lot about the region and its people.
So while we ride through this green cradle, we leave nothing behind but tire marks. We invite you to fully explore the nature surrounding you, and help protect it, by reducing water use in your tour, not leaving trash and residues unattended and minimize damage to the environment, wildlife and marine ecosystems. Download our app, in which you can experience all the aspects of your tour, avoiding unnecessary printing of any documents and tapping into the power of your smartphone in order to fully experience our tours. In our app, you’ll also find further pre-trip information on the social and political situation in each destination and suggestions of ways to minimize negative impacts on local cultures.
As this is a cycling holiday it is by nature a low carbon holiday.
PeopleAs riders, we understand the blessing that is exploring the great outdoors and being in touch with nature. We feel that we, who explore the world’s trails and backroads, have a greater sense of communion with nature, local cultures and people we encounter along the way. And as a company, we are also aware that we must give back to nature and local communities to keep this relation sustainable so that we can fully enjoy it.
On this tour, you’ll always be accompanied by local guides, which will take you to that authentic café or restaurant, where people know each other by their names and business-owners and inhabitants alike are happy to welcome you, in the natural hospitable way of the Portuguese people, perhaps most felt here, in northern Portugal.
Most of the restaurants you’ll be going have also evolved from family-run businesses to renowned gastronomic ex libris of the region, still run by the original owners in many cases. It is this long-lasting tradition that we wish to celebrate and preserve, while sharing it with our guests, as we understand this enhances the experience and adds to the authenticity of their visit. W
e choose local suppliers, accommodations and restaurants, that employ locally and help better transmit the feeling, gastronomy and cultures of the region in which you are travelling. We also invite you to support these local communities with your business, so that they can live out their traditions, cultures, and immaterial patrimony for many years to come.
