Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Our company’s goal is to preserve the natural winter environment while providing the best winter holidays for our guests! Therefore, all our trips are small-sized, meaning we do not support mass tourism and try to minimize the impact on the natural habitat. This holiday allows you to visit various resorts around the Julian Alps while staying in a charming town of Bled.

Most of Slovenia is under Natura 2000, so it is in a way preserved against human impact. In Slovenia, major ski resorts are located high enough, that their average season lasts for about 5 months. We always try to adapt our ski package to the best snow conditions at a certain time, so that the clients have the best holidays possible! Therefore, the itinerary is adapted due to snow cover. As this is a ski holiday, we use chairlifts and gondolas, however, most of them already work on solar energy.

We only do this trip when the snow season starts and as we have the possibility to change resorts daily according to the forecast, we can move to the resorts that are snow available. Also, as this is a self-guided trip, we do not offer ski guidance, except on request and at an additional charge.

We always communicate with our guests about “green actions” that can be done on a daily bases and which can hugely impact the fight against climate change. Luckily, Slovenia is a country that promotes green & responsible traveling, therefore, we also try to include various green actions in our winter programs. So, we encourage our guest to recycle during their stay in Slovenia, different litter bins for plastic, glass, paper, food can be found almost everywhere, not buy plastic water bottles and fill their own bottles with tap water, not buy plastic bags, use public transport, etc.

The Impacts of this Trip

During this trip, you will be staying in a small, family-run hotel in Bled, Hotel Ribno***. In the hotel, they are committed to responsible tourism, respecting zero-waste services and they proudly wear the label of the first zero-waste hotel in Slovenia!

They promote locally produced food, by telling guests about local markets, local restaurants, and dishes. They try to ensure that all the dishes in the hotel are made using locally sourced ingredients, very often just from the nearby valleys or small towns.

Also, all the other professionals we collaborate with, such as transportation and in-office people, have a long-standing tradition of working in the tourism field and thus understand the importance of sustainable tourism. We use small, local transport providers and family-run hotels that are the best presentation of our country. That way we ensure that tourism income is spread to as many local suppliers as possible, thus distributing the benefits of tourism locally.

As a nation, we are quite “green-oriented” and we love to share our knowledge about responsible tourism and green initiatives to tourists!
