As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetThis unique Italy itinerary was carefully created to explore local traditions that exist in tune within beautiful natural environments. Whether we are learning about grappa-making and wood carving techniques in the Dolomites, glass-blowing in Venice or the making of Parmesan in Italy's 'food valley', each tradition and local experience stresses the importance of sustainable and responsible practices that conserve nature's bounty in Italy for generations to come.
We'll learn about sustainable food-growing throughout each region, sampling the best local and seasonal specialties along the way. Our knowledgeable Italian-native guide will help us learn about these small-farming traditions that have been in place for hundreds of years and how simple ingredients are produced to create world-class flavors and characteristics.
This immersive itinerary focuses on neighboring regions of Northern Italy, and utilizes group transportation and train transit as well as walking and cycling in order to decrease vehicular and air travel. We'll explore incredible natural vistas, with a mind towards conservation of nature's beauty and a 'leave no trace' ethos. As with all of our trips, we'll encourage reduction of plastic consumption and make sure that water jugs are available for refilling personal reusable water bottles.
PeopleThroughout this journey, we'll interact with locals and communities on a personal basis to learn about and support small-business owners and producers first hand. We prioritize staying in local, family-run guesthouses, and selecting restaurants of a similar character. Many of the cultural traditions that we'll explore are important cornerstones of local history and character, and by engaging with the artisans, food-growers, and craftspeople who practice these skills we are participating in an important aspect of preserving this cultural heritage.
As we explore, our passionate and proud Italian-native guide will also be providing her thoughts on the rich cultural character and broad history of Italy. Since she is from the region that the itinerary explores, she can truly offer the insight and perspective that only a local can. And as a talented artist and organic food-grower herself, her knowledgeable input is even more appreciated.
We are proud to support important cultural traditions throughout the trip, including our community partner -- a Slow Food certified local farm that is producing a particular kind of sheep cheese with methods passed down for hundreds of years. Visiting their farm, we'll learn all about this unique cheese-making tradition, and support their work by donating a portion of sales from this trip.
