Description of Croatia sup or kayak watersports holiday
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planeta paddling trip in Dugi otok and Kornati region, doesn't need many words about the respect of the environment. The environment of Dugi Otok and Kornati (National park and Natural park, listed in the Unesco natural sites) is absolutely unique and still authentic. It needs to be protected and preserved for the next generations.
This trip will also let you have a real experience of what is a sustainable life, because in this part of Croatia still life is sustainable. During the trip you will have a real sense of being part of this "system of sustainability".
Dugi Otok, with a number of attractive tourist spots and natural beauties, offers its visitors a journey through a world of tradition and a modern lifestyle.
Dugi Otok is a tourist destination with a number of preconditions for becoming a sustainable tourism destination:
preserved nature and a rich biodiversity
valuable cultural and historical heritage
a local community increasingly oriented towards local produce and services
Nature Park Telacica as a development generator for the entire Dugi Otok
limited accommodation capacities
numerous paths and trails which can be used as cycling or walking trails
exceptional diving sites for all categories of divers
conditions favourable for kayaking
As responsible tourist we encourage our guest to:
Do not pick or damage plant, or their habitat which is their home.
Stick to marked trails and paths to ensure your safety, as well as the safety of plants and animals.
Be informed. Many species are rare and endangered, so try to contribute to their conservation with your activities.
What you bring with you, take it with you. Do not leave litter in the nature.
Buy local to contribute to the economic welfare of the local community.
Try authentic local food at local restaurants, and taste the tradition and customs of the area.
Use buoys. Thus, you will contribute to the conservation of marine life.
When you are looking for accommodation, choose the one which cares about reducing the negative impact on the environment.
Be watchful of water and electrical energy consumption. Do not let water running and lights burning unnecessarily.
Choose means of transportation with lower emissions of greenhouse gases. Act locally, but influence climate changes globally.
PeopleThis trip is deeply connected with a small community that are living here. In this little region of Dalmatia, aided by the fact that the population is only 1700 people, the sense of community is very strong. In this tiny micro world, it is relatively easy to support local businesses, in fact we do it each day without realising. All the partners that we'll touch during the trips are small business, very local, often family business. The most are family restaurants, or real farmers that also offer hospitality. Real hospitality. Don't expect anything fancy, you will receive a fair and authentic cordiality. The guesthouse that we use are managed by local that provides meals to its clients sourced from the fresh food grown on its own land. These eco-friendly havens offer tourists the chance for clean eating while enjoying a countryside setting at the same time. The fruit and vegetables are high quality, very tasty and all come from local farms in our area, The itinerary we propose is simply a cross from a family bussines to another family bussines that offers genuine hospitality and delicious homemade meals.
Dugi Otok is before all a place to relax and enjoy. During summer months in each of the 12 settlements of Dugi Otok there are festivities, mostly in honour of patron saints, with the sounds of local music and traditional meals.
