Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Environment
Peak District. Looking at its rolling hills, working farms, stock grazing on the fields and small, picturesque villages, we think that preserving its beauty is almost our duty. Therefore, our Peak District retreat is designed in a way to really cut our carbon footprint to a minimum.

On this trip you will only unpack once. This is already a bonus (who likes packing?) but it means a lot in terms of carbon footprint. When staying in one, center-based location, we choose not to travel from one place to the other. We cut on transfers, meaning we cut the carbon emissions too.

Main inclusions are walking based. Yes, after one of the walks we need to jump in to shared taxis to come back to our base and we do need to use public transport to reach the start of the other walk, but otherwise walking (and cycling) is the most environmentally friendly activity one can choose to do.
While we stay in one, center-based location, we made sure that food we will consume is locally sourced. This means we not only eat from local producers, supporting their hard work. It also cuts down so called food miles. Think about all these imported food produce and how much emissions they generate.
Community

The Impacts of this Trip

It is in our genes to support local communities wherever we travel too, and it is no different even if we travel close to home.

It is important to mention the size of our groups. We travel with maximum 12 people (8-9 on average). For the locals in Peak District, this, in our opinion, is the way to show respect. This beautiful countryside should not be flooded with masses of people at the same time.

In addition, smaller group size allows us to support local, family or community run businesses otherwise inaccessible for coach tours. While walking to Bamford, we will stop in a local pub for a local beer tasting. We will also enjoy a snack and cuppa in a community run shop in Grindleford or, on optional basis, a Bakewell Tart tasting. This can be crafted to our demand due to our style of traveling.

Most importantly, after respecting locals, we support them too! All above mentioned inclusions will support all the hard-working local people of Peak District. Be it beer or sweet cake, while visiting direct producers, we help them to run and develop their business. This is a proper support we offer.
