Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

During your walks we ask you to make sure you stick to marked paths to prevent any damage to the local about the local flora and fauna of the area. This holiday is very much in keeping with the island’s tourism development strategy which aims to reduce mass tourism and its negative impacts and instead promote small group or independent travel to the island's places of beauty and to make visitors more aware of the need for the conservation of the island's fauna and flora and protection of its natural resources.

As Mallorca is a small island, water is a very precious resource, the tap water is drinkable and we encourage customers to bring a reusable water bottle. Along the routes there will be opportunities to re-fill from springs.

As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

The Impacts of this Trip

We walk along ancient pathway and pilgrimage routes, follow the Archduke's Trails and make use of the island's public buses and taxis to take us to the start of our walks. This helps to reduce our carbon footprint and further support the local economy. We encourage customers to try the local restaurants and discover the distinct Castilian-Leonese influence of the area. Dishes like Arros Brut (rice in a hot broth) are perfect fuel for long walks. This means that more of our customers money goes to the Mallorcan's themselves rather than to international hotel and transport chains.

The local operator we work with are as dedicated to responsible travel as we are, and have developed a Sustainability Policy as well as being awarded a TraveLife sustainability certification.

As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
