The Palacina has taken steps to provide more sustainable and eco-friendly travel.
Sand River Masai Mara offers guests luxurious seclusion. Set against the backdrop of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, this tented safari camp was built with the modern ethos of low-impact and sustainable living and is dedicated to ensuring the conservation of the wildlife sanctuary it calls home. Visitors are briefed upon arrival of the environmental values of the camp. Has solar power for hot water and has a borehole for water supply. This water is solar pumped and stored in reservoirs which is then supplied via gravity to the entire premises. It was rated gold for eco tourism in 2013 from Eco Tourism Kenya. It is built on low environmental footprint and blends in with the local surroundings.
We continually encourage clients to leave a smaller carbon footprint by supporting environmentally products and services like solar-powered eco-lodges and electric vehicles.
Being based in Africa, we believe it is our responsibility to preserve Africa's wildlife.
PeopleWe provide sustainable African safaris for the conscious traveler.
We recently held a Sustainable travel webinar for nearly 200 persons from the travel industry.
Sand River Mara provides room information folders and books with information on the Masai people and their culture. Approximately 40% of the staffs are from the local community. Also, all casual work is allocated to the locals. On ad hoc basis, the camp gives support to Sekenani primary school through provision of books and stationery-support from guest donations. The facility organizes village visits to Talek village at a cost of US$15 per guest paid directly to the community. Employees are provided with health care, uniform, accommodation facilities and basic amenities.
We create tours that allow visitors to give back to local communities during their travels. We create opportunities for our clients to truly engage with the people and culture and make a positive impact through community upliftment.
Our legacy program includes several partnerships and collaborations with local organizations like the Project Brave Foundation. .
