Scotland self drive family holiday
Description of Scotland self drive family holiday
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
We can cater for vegetarian and vegan diets.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetAlthough this is a self-drive holiday, we recommend low-carbon transport wherever possible. Much of this holiday is themed around the water, providing more environmentally transport options and guided trips – travel to the Isle of Mull, for example, is by ferry. The canoeing trip on Loch Lomond, is a great method of exploring the landscape in an environmentally-friendly manner, as is the wildlife and whale-watching trip around the coast of the Isle of Mull.
Where possible, we will always encourage exploration on foot, and will include relevant excursions to this end – in this holiday for example, the faerie-hunting forest walk at Loch Lomond.
We were the first tour operator in the UK to offer fully-packaged tours including a whale-watching element in Scotland. We carefully choose all of our wildlife excursion partners to ensure they meet the highest standards in wildlife viewing and conservation. Our selected guides are local experts, and carefully plan their trips to maximise sighting opportunities without causing any disturbance or damage to local wildlife or their habitats.
We also provide documentation to customers travelling to Mull in support of the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) to help promote their conservation work of whales, dolphins and porpoises in Western Scotland.
The visit to the rare bird of prey centre in Balloch helps to educate visitors on conservation work being undertaken to help support over 30 birds of prey and 26 species of owl.
PeopleFor us, true sustainability means promoting and helping to maintain a way of life in traditional and rural communities, where the economic benefit that comes from tourism can make a genuine difference. We very carefully choose all of our local business partners, always ensuring that they share our values and commitment to sustainable travel.
We pledge to never send our customers anywhere that we haven't experienced first-hand. To this end, our tailored holiday documentation includes “Robert’s Recommendations” – our personally-researched tips on where to visit, eat and shop while on holiday. This personal research ensures we can direct travellers towards local businesses, many of which are off the beaten track. Combined with the included excursions on this holiday, you will have the opportunity to interact with many local business owners, contributing to the tourism economy that so many remote and rural destinations are reliant on.
We are corporate supporters of the John Muir Trust, an organisation committed to protecting the wild land of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
