Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

We recognise that Hwange is a hugely important ecosystem and that, therefore, it is vital to protect this wilderness area and all of the wildlife that depends on it. Mana is in particular area for several packs of wild dog, as made famous in the BBC docu-series 'Dynasties', as well as lion, leopard and elephant. The area of Mana visited by this tour is exclusive but crowding of sightings is common on the floodplains - however, we will never remain at or approach a sighting that we believe is too crowded. We will never remain at a sighting when we believe our presence is of detriment to the animal we are viewing. We will never pursue an animal that has chosen to move away from us. This itinerary includes several night drives, and we will always endeavour not to spotlight a diurnal animal, and we will never spotlight a young, injured or otherwise distressed animal.

We ask that clients recognise that Mana is an area prone to extreme and prolonged drought, and adjust their behaviour accordingly. In particular, we ask clients to limit their water usage where possible, including limiting the length of showers where possible.

People

It is imperative that ecotourism delivers genuine and tangible benefits to local people and the communities of which they are a part. When done sensibly and appropriately, this incentivises the protection and preservation of rare wildlife and the ecosystems they call home by ensuring that local people can attach a value to them. With this in mind, we insist that our local partners in Hwange employ local people as far as possible. As such, guests should expect that throughout this tour, guides, drivers, and camp staff are all Zimbabwean. Pilots and your tour leader and likely to be from further afield.

We ask that clients are respectful and kind in all interactions with local people throughout their stay. This extends to dressing appropriately and being respectful of local cultures, traditions and religion. We ask that clients do not take unsolicited photos of anybody - everyone is entitled to privacy, and we must remember that we are guests in Zimbabwe during every visit.
