Swedish lapland 5 day holiday
Description of Swedish lapland 5 day holiday
Everything is tweak-able, giving you the freedom to build a unique and personal trip for your chosen date. Upgrade your accommodation for all - or just part - of your trip, slow down the pace with few extra nights here and there or add a few more active adventures along the way
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetFor all our trips in Lapland we work with a local partner who shares our values about conserving the natural environment and operating trips which have a positive impact. Here in our Brighton-based office we have obtained the Travelife Better Places Partnership. When selecting accommodation, transport and excursions, along with the companies who provide them, our local partner takes in to account their environmental and community impact. This also covers our practices and procedures in our office and in our partner's office in Lapland. Here in the UK we recycle as much of our waste as we can, using a closed-loop recycling company and actively encouraging our staff to think about the waste we have through workshops and monthly updates.
During our Kiruna trip we use a lodge that has received Nature's Best, Nordic Swan Ecolabel and Sustainable Arctic Destination certificates, proving their commitment to eco-friendly travel. The on-site restaurant is also considered to be one of Sweden's most environmentally friendly kitchens, using the latest technology in water and energy saving, composting and heat recovery.
PeopleOur local partners only employ local people and offer them flexible working hours so they can fit their work around other commitments.
The guides are all local and have an in-depth knowledge of the culture and wildlife of the region, making sure it is respected by staff and visitors alike during excursions. For all our Lapland trips, we offer the chance to visit a local Sami community to learn about their traditions and how best to preserve them.
We’ve searched high and low in Lapland and found hotels offering small-scale, local charm to give you a real taste of the region. Our lodge in Kiruna is a real highlight; owned and run by a local family, staying here provides them a reliable source of income and helps them to promote their vision of sustainable travel in Sweden.
Where possible, we book train travel as the main method of transport between cities in Sweden. Not only is it a more environmentally friendly way of travelling, but The Arctic Circle Express is also reliable way to travel and provides jobs to the local communities.
