Description of New York to Niagara Falls tour

One of the most iconic settings in the United States, Niagara Falls sends millions of litres of water each day cascading out of Lake Erie and into the tumultuous depths below. This short break adventure heads from New York to this spectacular waterfall, with a night at the wine growing region of Finger Lakes, too.

Pull on your waterproofs and experience Niagara from the Maid of the Mist boat, which cruises close to the base of the falls, then enjoy seeing the water lit up by night. You can also walk over the Rainbow Bridge, to see the falls from the Canadian side. Then enjoy the rolling hills and fresh country air of the Finger Lakes wine region, sampling some of the local tipple in a tasting session. Travelling in a small group by private vehicle, you’ll get to see beautiful rural America, too, passing through the lush landscape near the Appalachian Trail before winding up through the Pocono Mountains.

Spend two nights in hotels, both perfectly located close to Niagara Falls and in the heart of the Finger Lakes. Covering this much ground in just three days means some long drives in the van, but if you’re pressed for time this is the perfect way to experience some of New York State’s most famous sights. The itinerary is packed with activities, so you won’t miss a thing, but there isn’t much time to explore or relax in your own time. If you’d like to add an extra day or two on in New York City, we can help arrange accommodation for this.

Hello. If you'd like to chat about this holiday or need help finding one we're very happy to help. Rosy & team.

Small group adventure

What is a small group adventure?
It's a great way to travel! Whether you are travelling on your own, with a partner or with friends, a small group trip is a fantastic way to see the world. You'll travel on a fixed itinerary that has been designed to help you discover the best of region. From the known highlights, the hidden gems that you won't find in the guidebooks.

Itineraries run on set departure dates, accompanied every step of the way by an English speaking local group leader. You chose the itinerary and the date that suits you best and you book on.

Why travel on a small group adventure?
Small groups allow us to explore where larger tour groups can't. Our maximum group size of 16 travellers allows us to use local transport to get from A to B, to visit rural villages, spend time with the locals and even stay at a local home overnight, and it allows us to give our travellers genuine, real life experiences of the countries we are visiting; what you'll be doing and how you'll travel depends entirely on your chosen itinerary.

Is an adventure right for me?
The word adventure means something different to everyone, and our range of trips reflects that. Whether you want to explore local markets, visit out of the way temples and meet local people or go on an early morning safari drive searching for the 'big five', we'll have a trip for you. If you are looking for a physical challenge such trekking the Kokoda Track or summiting Kilimanjaro, we can help with that too.

So what can I expect on this trip?
This is a classic style of small group adventure. You'll find your trip combines a good mix of included activities and free time, with some meals included as per your itinerary. We don't want you to feel chaperoned, it's your holiday not ours. Your group leader will be on hand to assist with organising anything you might wish to do in your free time, but how you spend it is up to you. Anything listed as included in your itinerary will be included in trip price; whereas anything listed as optional will be at an additional cost should you wish to take part.

These trips are great value, including things that you would struggle to organise independently, such as a night at a homestay in a remote village, or local guides around a remote place of interest. Transport will be a combination of private vehicle and public transport, whichever is the most appropriate for the route we are travelling; this might include train, plane, camel, tuk tuk, bicycle, boat…

On a majority of these trips you'll stay in 2-3 star accommodation, locally owned and reflective of the region you are travelling through. All solo travellers will be automatically roomed on a twin share basis with another group member of the same sex, unless you opt to pay for your own room at time of booking. There are no compulsory single supplements for solo travellers willing to share. Single rooms aren't available on camping trips, and you will be expected to help out with camp tasks such as setting up and breaking down your camp.

Can I book my flights with you?
Yes! We are a fully ATOL bonded tour operator meaning that we can book flights from the UK as part of your holiday package. Just ask us for a quote including flights when you make your enquiry.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: New York to Niagara Falls tour

The very ethos of our style of travel is responsible; small groups on fully escorted tours, experiencing the very best of a region, a culture and a landscape, with a friendly local hand guiding the way. Our itineraries are designed to give our travellers real life experiences without compromising the part of the world we are exploring; to travel responsibly is at the heart of our commitment as a global tour operator.

We believe that responsible travel is about the attitude you take with you and the choices you make when travelling - to respect and benefit local people, their cultures, economy and the environment. We travel by these values wherever our groups go, from three week treks through the Himalayas to trips such as this; a short break through New York State.

The wild areas of New York State are often overlooked for the bustle of Manhattan Island, but this trip is ideal for travellers looking for a taste of the USA at its most rugged. Leaving these stunning areas as we found them is a top priority on this trip, and you’ll be encouraged to help us protect them during our visit. Little things such as disposing of refuse carefully, recycling where ever possible and sticking to the trails if exploring on foot all help to protect the landscape we are visiting. You’ll also be encouraged on this short break to use refillable water bottles rather than purchase endless supplies of plastic bottled water.

Environmentally, we are a carbon neutral company, offsetting the ground emissions of all our passengers on all our trips. On this journey through New York State that equates to 173kgs of carbon offset per passenger, per departure! We also offer all our travellers the opportunity to offset the cost of their international travel with us.

Supplies for the group will be purchased en route from local suppliers where ever possible and we will often eat in small, family run restaurants rather than the famous chains, to keep the money our visit is generating with those who will see the benefit from it most.

Your group leader who accompanies you throughout your trip will be American as will your driver. We recruit locally not only to give our travellers unique regional insights into an area, but again to help ensure our tours benefit the regions we visit financially through the creation of employment.
