Carbon reduction

Your holiday will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this holiday and how to reduce them.

Environment

The name Epic Trans-Siberian Journey conjures up a vision of an epic land, and it doesn’t get any larger in the world than Siberia, making up two thirds of Russia’s landmass. Beginning at our office, environmental protection initiatives extend from our company offices to our tours. Our office is as paperless as possible and our brochures use 100% PEFC certified sustainable paper. We purchase all supplies from a local green business supplier. To reduce the amount of waste created on tours, tour leaders encourage our travellers to be more responsible, thoughtful and to use reusable products. Encouraging our travellers to respect the environment is an important part of our core values, “Do The Right Thing!”

Low Impact Transportation: Getting around as locals do gives you a unique insight to the everyday way of life. This trip gives you the chance to try out the Trans-Siberian Railroad (no biggie)! Local transportation not only allows you to experience the culture on a deeper level, but also makes you feel more at home!

Community

You’re not going to find a better way to experience culture than by riding the Trans-Siberian Railway. Take advantage of this opportunity, venture out of your comfort zone and meet locals on the train! Your local homestay in the Siberian town of Listvyanka will open up your eyes and you will be guaranteed to walk away from this trip forever changed!

Don’t forget about one of the highlights of this trip; the World Heritage Sites forever protected by UNESCO via your continued support. The World Natural Heritage Site of Lake Baikal in Siberia, and Moscow’s Kremlin and Red Square.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The railway journey from Beijing to Moscow itself.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Do not overload yourself with sleeping bags, liners, towels etc. On the trains, hotels etc. these are always provided wherever you stay.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The operator should not skimp on providing transfers. At the start and at the end, we had to lug our belongings over rough pavements, crowds and walk
quite a distance to get to our destination.
