Description of Family activity holiday in Turkey

An adventure holiday for families that takes you sea kayaking, canyoning, swimming, cycling and trekking along this stunning area of SW Turkey. We recommend this for families with children over ten years old, who are keen to take on exciting adventures through our much loved terrain, be it on land or water which, as a family run company, we know like the back of our hands.

Our base is the small resort of Dalyan, just 20 minutes from Dalaman Airport. There are lots of family-friendly restaurants and cafes, and just a short boat ride away is one of the best beaches of the Med, the famous ‘Turtle Beach’ at Iztuzu – 10 km of unspoilt sandy shore, the nesting ground of the endangered Caretta Caretta turtle.

The region is full of history, in particular the ancient city and rock tombs of Caunos at Dalyan. There are also lots of opportunities for wildlife spotting - storks, sea turtles, tortoises, crabs and kingfishers are just a few of the many species you may come across.

The standard itinerary includes seven nights bed and breakfast accommodation at the Yunus Hotel, located right on the riverbank about 10 minutes walk from the village centre. The hotel has a large pool perfect for fun and relaxation, a good sized garden, and all rooms have en suite facilities, AC and a balcony.

This holiday is flexible and can be tailored to the requirements of individual families – for example we can include more or less of any activity, we can include one or more nights camping, or the activities can be spread over 10 days or 2 weeks to give you more rest days in between.

Suitable for adults and children aged 10+.

Hello. If you'd like to chat about this holiday or need help finding one we're very happy to help. Rosy & team.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Family activity holiday in Turkey

We accept a maximum number of 12 people on this trip, because we believe that small groups minimise the impact of tourism on the environment. In addition, a small group size enables local people and visitors to interact in a more meaningful way, benefiting both sides; and for the same reason we ensure that the group is accompanied by a guide who speaks both English and Turkish.

One way that we minimise the impact on the environment is by using vehicles as little as possible and by using group transport. All the activities in this tour are environmentally friendly, using non-polluting muscle-power to explore the beautiful outdoors in this part of the world.

In addition to minimising any negative impact, we aim to create a positive impact on the environment by introducing visitors to the great variety of flora and fauna found here, much of it rare and endangered. To this end we provide participants on this tour with illustrated notes about the natural heritage of the area, including information about Turkish environmental organisations. If you would like to offer your support to any of these organisations, we provide contact details. Our aim is to raise the consciousness of both visitors and local people about local conservation issues.

We are a locally-based and locally-owned tour operator. We are fully committed to running our tours in a way that reduces the impact on our environment and contributes as much as possible to the local community.

For this tour we use a small, friendly hotel in Dalyan, owned and run by a local family.

All the services that we use, such as transport and restaurants, are locally owned and operated, and as much as possible we buy supplies for our trips from village markets and shops.

This tour is arranged on a bed and breakfast basis, with lunch provided on activity days which means that in the evenings you have the opportunity to eat out in different restaurants and try various local dishes, enhancing your holiday experience and supporting the local economy.

Our staff is made up mainly of Turkish people as we feel this benefits all involved, and is the best way for our guests to gain an insight into Turkish culture. We are committed to training our guides to a high standard, and to this end we arrange our own training activities for our staff - our director is an experienced and internationally qualified outdoor instructor.

We support the local community in their efforts to preserve their environment, for example the campaign of villagers in the Yuvarlak River area to protect their river against a proposed dam construction project.

We work to promote good relationships between tourists and the people who live in our area by promoting interaction with the local community, for example by faciliating conversations with villagers when we meet them during our tours and by buying their produce.

It was good to go with a local travel company rather than a group one. We have recommended it to lots of friends. So many good memories and hard to pinpoint anything. The accommodation was lovely and felt like we were staying with an extended family rather than employees. Read full review

A rewarding and life affirming experience...Canyoning was particularly memorable as it provided a wonderful opportunity to explore the landscape, scenery and wildlife, as well as a balance of challenge through rock scrambling and chill time plunging in refreshing rock pools. Read full review

I went with the assumption that the hiking day would be my favourite, as it is something I always enjoy. However, that probably came in as second from bottom (cycling has never been my thing - although the day was well organised), with the kayaking, canyoning and rafting all vying for top place. Super. We are very glad that we choose to do the activities over two weeks rather than one, which meant that we had time to relax and take in the vibe of Dalyan, and we were able, had time, to add the second canyoning trip. Read full review

Overall it was one of the most enjoyable holidays I have had for many years.... Our guides, Engin and Nurdan, were brilliant - very friendly, fun, professional and patient. The countryside around Dalyan is beautiful, lush and green, and we would never have seen and experienced the local habitat without our guides. Each activity gave us a new slant...the canyoning was exhilarating; the cycling allowed us to see the wider area and find a magical restaurant; the kayaking took us to the mud baths and the rafting was great fun...
