Description of Annapurna base camp trek in Nepal

This trek to Annapurna Base Camp combines breathtaking mountain scenery and the chance to learn about Nepalese life and culture. Trek for nine days, for a maximum of seven hours, following local trails that wind through forests, villages and farmland terraces cut into the hillside, with wonderful mountain scenery at every stage.

Begin by trekking beside the Modi River, through rhododendron and bamboo forests, before reaching Hinku Cave, where the vegetation thins out and the gorge becomes just a few hundred meters wide. The huge mountains Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre form the entrance to the Annapurana Sanctuary, a vast mountain amphitheatre with snowy peaks rearing up on ll sides.

This holiday starts and ends in Kathmandu, and departs every week, with the actual trekking beginning in Nayapul. It is a small group trip, with a maximum of 15 people, lead by a local, knowledgeable guide and supported by porters. We can also arrange private treks at any time. There is the option to tailor this trek, too, incorporating it with the Annapurna Circuit or the Jomsom-Miktinath trek, by trekking from Tatopani to Ghorepani and then to Tadapani, before joining the main Sanctuary trails at Chommrong.

The best time to trek to Annaurna Base Camp is February to May and September to December.
