The exchange rate in cuba is not good for Americans so bring extra money
as you can't use cards.
Local benefits?
I hope it benefited them. I know they appreciated the tips. The single use water bottle issue will be a problem quickly as the infrastructure probably can't handle the amount of tourists.

Definitely the friendly hosts at the casa particulars, so happy & helpful, given my limited Spanish, that made it even better in a way, so we both had to 'work' at

The most memorable was 50 miles offshore Scuba Diving in the Garden of the Queens...this is a healthy reef with sharks to nudibranchs. The soft corals where beautiful waving in the current with the reef fish. We had a wonderful trip and will be returning to Cuba and diving the Gardens. (more)Wilson Wing

It was all memorable. Being in Cuba itself was an amazing experience. Every town we visited was different but everywhere the people were warm and welcoming.
