Seeing tigers in Ranthambore National Park- yes two less than twenty feet away. I had no expectations of seeing so to come across one resting beside the track who was then joined by another was amazing. (more)Charmian Hobbs
Don't hesitate to book. Just go! It was amazing. The operator uses local transport, including trains. The hotels were small businesses and not part of large world wide chains. Our group was a mix of ages from 20 year olds to over 60's so it is suitable for all wanting to experience India. (more)Kathryn Heirons

Memorable parts? Varanasi was amazing and provided a great stay. Tips? Just go for it, you will love it, whether you are used to travelling or not, everyone on our trip enjoyed it and wanted more. Local benefits? On the trip we used local guides, driver etc which supported jobs in the various towns and cities. Using public transport ie the trains helped us get to various places easily and economically. Overall rating? Amazing, a must do for everyone. The guide was... (more)Joanne Rogers

Memorable parts? Taj Mahal, Amber Palace, Ranthambhore National Park. Tips? Travelling in August is possible. The Monsoon did not affect us much. There are very few tourists and the countryside is green. Don't count on a good match with other families. Local benefits? To the extent that one bought or consumed local products local people benefited. Our impact on the environment was negative (flights, local travel, bottled water, pools etc). Overall rating? The key... (more)Alexander Auboeck

Memorable parts? Difficult to choose just one, it was all memorable, but I particularly enjoyed the homestay in the backwaters of Kerala. Wonderful host family and a beautiful and relaxing setting. And Hampi has to be one of the most interesting places in India. Tips? It is not as basic as it sounds. All but two of the hotels were quite luxurious. Having all the travel arrangements done for you makes it stress free. We had a very good guide and the group had loads of positive energy.... Memorable parts? The extra trek up to the glacier where we had a fab view. Every amazing view of endless mountains. The cultural elements were great too and a brilliant way to acclimatise safely. Tips? Listen to your leader and drink plenty of water to avoid altitude sickness. Don't do too much when you first get to Leh in order to acclimatise properly. Enjoy the views!!! Local benefits? Local guides were used - we also saw the benefits from the different projects including... (more)Ellie Hawksley

Memorable parts? There were two big parts of our holiday: the culture and the nature. From a cultural perspective, we learned so much about the history of various cultures within Rajasthan. The forts we visited (Mehrangarh, Roopangarh, Amber) were amazing, but the highlight was definitely staying at Jog Niwas, where our host/organizer Shanane Davis lives. She taught us so much about patronage and connoisseurship, sharing with our whole family a remarkably vast knowledge about textiles, art,... (more)Robert Macauley

Memorable parts? Finding out about the 'real' India. Tips? I went to Calcutta which is raw and real. There is no pretentiousness, no pretence, just India how you might have imagined. Local benefits? I volunteered for a charity that empowered women - very much needed in many parts if India. Overall rating? Superb - it was everything I wanted. (more)alison hay

Memorable parts? Seeing the enthusiasm of the children and how welcome we felt at the schools. Feeling connected to the local community and other volunteers whilst staying in the comfortable volunteers house instead of a hotel. Also the delicious authentic Indian food cooked by a lovely local lady at the house. Tips? The memorable moment were the people, the children, the colours, the food, the sunsets.
