Memorable parts? Difficult to choose just one, it was all memorable, but I particularly enjoyed the homestay in the backwaters of Kerala. Wonderful host family and a beautiful and relaxing setting. And Hampi has to be one of the most interesting places in India. Tips? It is not as basic as it sounds. All but two of the hotels were quite luxurious. Having all the travel arrangements done for you makes it stress free. We had a very good guide and the group had loads of positive energy.... (more)Maggie Hetherington

Memorable parts? Probably the meenakshi temple visit. I also thought Kerala was beautiful. Tips? I would advise other travelers to research the areas being visited because I didn't think there were enough interesting activities offered. Local benefits? Not sure. Overall rating? 2 stars. Although our tour leader was nice enough, I found her rather disorganized and not particularly communicative regarding the areas we visited (unless we asked direct questions) or the... Memorable parts? Finding out about the 'real' India. Tips? I went to Calcutta which is raw and real. There is no pretentiousness, no pretence, just India how you might have imagined. Local benefits? I volunteered for a charity that empowered women - very much needed in many parts if India. Overall rating? Superb - it was everything I wanted. (more)alison hay
