1. Classic South Australia
Get up close to the sea lions at Seal Bay and explore the spectacular Remarkable Rocks on Kangaroo Island. For a change of pace visit the Barossa, one of Australia’s most famous wine regions. Travel north to the Flinders Ranges and visit Wilpena Pound and surrounding ranges for wildlife spotting and bushwalking opportunities. 2. City, Wine and Wildlife
Experience the buzz and culture of Adelaide including the Central Market, South Australian Museum and Botanic Garden. Taste Australia’s most famous red, white and sparkling wine in the Barossa. Spend some time in the historic village of Hahndorf, with its range of arts, craft, galleries, cellar doors, bakeries and boutique shopping in the Adelaide Hills. Continue south to the seaside towns of Victor Harbor, Port Elliot and Goolwa for sightings of Southern Right Whales. Hop over to Kangaroo island for unspoilt landscape wonders and wildlife. 3. Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road in Victoria is one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives, and a great way to travel from Melbourne to South Australia. Look out for the famous Twelve Apostles – huge sandstone pinnacles that rise from the surf near the coastline. Visit the historic town of Penola and the world-famous Coonawarra wine district, renowned for its fine wines, particularly red wine varieties, or McLaren Vale, one of the most picturesque wine regions in Australia. 4. Explorers Way
The Explorer’s Way crosses Australia from Adelaide to Darwin, through the South Australian Outback and the red centre of Australia. It covers a total distance of 3016 kilometres or 1874 miles. This itinerary takes visitors from Adelaide through the Clare Valley wine region and Flinders Ranges continuing on to the underground town of Coober Pedy before finishing in Alice Springs. 5. Eyre Peninsula
The Eyre Peninsula is one of the most beautiful unspoilt regions of Australia. It covers over 2000 kilometres of South Australia’s western coast, including the Nullarbor Plain and stretches into the Outback.
