Travel to Transylvania and other parts of Romania through prebooked tours and tailor made packages. Transylvan arranges visits to areas such as the Danube Delta with its outstanding ecology, Bucovina with its World Heritage painted churches and the Carpathian mountains, with world famous attractions around Brasov such as Bran Castle, often linked with ‘Count Dracula’. These mountains are home to large carnivores such as bears and wolves and ideal for walking and horse riding. We will work with local partners, aiming to ensure the responsible growth of tourism in Romania. Bucharest tours, including Ceausescu’s ‘Kremlin’, are also available.

How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...

Economic responsibility

  • We are contributing 50 p per customer to TheTravelFoundation– a British based Charity that is implementing tourism projects and practice around the world to deliver long term caring. Our contribution is in line with that made by our partner, SUNVIL, and greater than that per passenger from major companies such as Cooks and First Choice. SUNVIL will offer you the chance to make an additional personal contribution of 50p at the time of booking.

    Environmental responsibility

    • We are helping to minimise the effects of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases on the global climate from the transport that we use (aircraft, buses and cars) by contributing to Climate Care .This contribution is equivalent to some £1.50 per customer and will be invested, for example, in renewable energy schemes in less developed countries. We will continue to do this until governments bring in alternative ways in which to address the climate change impact of transport.

      Social responsibility

      • We will contribute also £1 per customer to a community project in Romania. Our customers are asked to make suggestions, based on what they see in Romania, about suitable projects to support.
