Headwater
How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
Economic responsibility
- We always look to work with small, family owned/ managed hotels, usually with fewer than 30 rooms
- We look for owners who take a real interest in their guests, and chefs whose menus include regional specialities, based on good local, seasonal produce
- We don’t fly leaders out with groups. Our leaders are based locally and are chosen for their knowledge of, and passion for, where they live
Environmental responsibility
- Everything obvious in the office is re-cycled (paper, plastic, print cartridges, etc)
- Our brochures are printed on paper from sustainable sources and mailed in bio-degradable packaging
- We also encourage customers to re-cycle all maps and route notes
- We also recycle our bikes and bike parts via our relationship with Colchester-based charity, Recycle
Social responsibility
- All our hotel-to-hotel route notes have been meticulously designed to include off-the-beaten track discoveries
- Headwater holidays are all about getting under the skin of the place you’re visiting - discovering more about the local people
- We believe that it’s important that guests have the flexibility to make their own personal discoveries too – one of the huge benefits of independent travel
