Ibex Trex Walking Holidays
How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
Economic responsibility
We use local hotels that have excellent standards. All the hotels we use are Spanish owned and run; and all employ local people. We employ local guides and use local transport companies when we have large groups. All our lunches are made from locally sourced produce, local cheeses, meats, breads, fruit and vegetables, etc. which we make sure have been produced locally where possible or we stop at Spanish run bars/restaurants for food.
Environmental responsibility
As a company with a vested interest in the local wildlife, we always explain about the local environment, the use of National Parks and how we endeavour to show clients the wildlife in an unobtrusive way as possible. For example, we always use marked paths where possible and explain what not to walk on when we cannot use marked paths. We explain to people about the local economy, how people earn their money and we show clients local craft and food stores.
Social responsibility
Our holidays all include visits to a local famous attraction, including the town of Granada and The Alhambra, the town of Ronda, the olive museum in Motril, the cheese museum in Grazalema, flamenco nights and the highest village in Spain: Trevelez to try the local delicacies, as well as touring the areas on foot. We explain to people about the local economy, how people earn their money and we show clients local craft and food stores.
