How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
We support the economy of our region , The Bay of Kotor and small villages that we pass through, Njegusi area , Scepan polje and Mt Durmitor , rural communities, using their smaller restaurants, traders and shops. This ensures revenue generated from tourism is not confined to the larger cities and well known tourist spots. This is vital in establishing sustainable economies in these smaller areas
All tour leaders are native to the area, live, travel and work in Montenegro for long periods. Tour-leaders are actually resident in Montenegro thus contributing full-time to the local economies
In the last three years we contributed to several activities as a part of UNDP ( United Nations Developing Program) and EU IPA programs to promote cooperation between Croatian and Montenegrin travel companies in this specific areas for sustainable active adventures tourism.
Culinary: an integral part of real understanding and enjoyment of a region or country is eating the local food. The majority of our tours are inclusive two or three meals per day – the idea being that our guides aim to provide a guided tour to the regional cuisines as well as the sites and landscapes.
We ensure that as well as locally run restaurants our guests are given the opportunity to enjoy the cuisine sold by producers directly.
Accommodation on this holiday is in, primarily, family run, small hotels. The food in the hotels is sourced locally and a large number of dishes on the menus are homemade Food in the local restaurants that we visit during our sea kayaking trips is produced organically where possible. Those are family owned restaurants that are supplied with fresh fish from local fisherman.
We employ local guides in places where their expertise and local knowledge will enhance your experience and understanding of the historical context and on the environmental impact of your visit.
Most of our tours include National parks of Montenegro and UNESCO protected Town of Kotor and Kotor Bay area. Each of them features unique environments and rich ecological values, which require corresponding attitude from visitors. We want our holidays to be high impact in experience but low impact on the environment!.. Working together with our local guides and companies we will continue to support local community in effort to keep their natural beauty free of all pollution and generate enough income from sustainable tourism. By including the opportunity to visit the National Parks on this holiday we choose to contribute to the excellent record of conservation in recent years through the entrance fees.
As a company we employ responsible policies such as recycling paper, ink cartridges, glass and cardboard; we minimize the use of electricity and conducting the vast majority of our correspondence and promotion via the internet and email, minimizing the amount of paper used for our activities.
All of our guides are aware of their surrounding and they are constantly providing the travellers with suggestions of how to minimize potential negative impacts to the environment and marine ecosystems. Our guides emphasize on the importance of leaving the environment as it is. We observe marine life but we do not disturb it.
Our sea kayaks are made of recyclable plastic. They do not cause any form of air or water pollution and they do not produce noise that could be disturbing for marine life.
On our trips we , walk ,hike and paddle off the beaten paths . Traveling on foot and paddling produces no carbon footprint and also slows your pace down so you take in more of the nature that surrounds you.
We encourage our guests to use re-fillable water bottles, since tab water is drinkable in Montenegro.
Our tours ensures that the local people benefit as much as possible in the form of jobs (we employ local guides and drivers, we use family owned hotel or small hotels), and most of all by minimizing the negative environmental impacts. We use local transfer services, buy food from the small farms and work on developing responsible tourism management in our region.
We closely cooperate with local cultural institutions and we point our visitors towards local cultural festivals (Kotor Art Festival , Don Branko music days) and similar manifestations.
We suggest to our travelers visits to historically, culturally and environmentally important sights (Old Town of Kotor ,
Villages Muo , Prcanj Stoliv , Town of Perast )
