How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...

Economic responsibility

Kos is the island where Hippocrates the Father of Medicine was born and raised. The Oath written by Hippocrates is still held sacred by physicians all over the world: to treat to the best of one's ability, to preserve a patient's privacy, to teach the secrets of medicine to the next generation, and so on. We hope to create more awareness of Hippocrates heritage on Kos for both visitors as well for the local authorities who are responsible for maintaining and preserving our museums and archaeological sites.

The products we use are from local suppliers.

We started a charity ‘Kos Island Animal Friendly’ In cooperation with the municipality of Kos and local people we try to make a difference for the animals on our islands that in need of help. We think that educating the next generation at schools, giving information to owners and castrating large population is a part of the solution of animal issues on Greek islands. We have been setting up public feeding places where all cats are fed daily, neutered and get medical treatment when needed.

Environmental responsibility

Storms and people will bring garbage onto the beach and we take an active role in cleaning up beaches all year round. During our walks we will make sure that we leave no litter behind, while we also collect what we can on our way. We often arrange clean ups of paths and beaches during the season in which people can voluntarily participate.
We explain to our guests the need for water conservation in the Greek islands. We encourage our guests to use refillable water bottles and drink the filtered water that is available for them. We show our guests where we recycle paper, glass, plastic and metal.

We have solar panels which provide hot water for the hotel all year round.

Social responsibility

We hope to create more awareness of Hippocrates heritage on Kos for both visitors as well for the local authorities. We will visit the Hippocrates Foundation, a project that depends on donations and needs more international visitors. A visit to Asklepion is scheduled. According to ancient Greek mythology Asclepius was the god of medicine and healing. Asklepion is the place where healers were curing their patients and teaching others the art of healing. Hippocrates was taught and practised medicine in Asklepion on Kos.
