Suffolk Coast wildlife conservation holiday, England

This holiday takes us to some of the least known and mysterious landscapes of the Suffolk coast. Unusually innaccessible to the public, Havergate Island and Ordford Ness are unique in Britain and once visited, never forgotten. Complementing this is our accommodation, Castle House at the centre of Orford village on Suffolk’s coastal strip. Castle House overlooks the remarkably intact tower keep of Orford Castle and the house itself is a beautifully preserved Edwardian property built by the Marquis of Hertford. Suffolk conservation holiday, Dunwich and Minsmere

The beautifully renovated farm buildings of Bridge Barn in the village of Dunwich will be our home for this 6-night holiday working at Dunwich and Minsmere nature reserves. Surrounded by forest and heath on one side, and salt marshes and the sea on the other, the beach is only a five-minute walk away from our accommodation. Dunwich is a picturesque village with a surprising past. In the 13th century this small centre was a thriving port the size of London when the sea came in to reclaim almost the entire town.
