Sailing the beautiful west coast of Ireland is something not many people get to do. Departing Belfast (Bangor Marina) the boats will follow the North Channel up over the top of Ireland and around to face the great Atlantic Ocean. From here on in, this stage of the journey will be characterised by the formidable nature of the Atlantic swell - a great opportunity for those wishing to experience sailing at the threshold of the second greatest ocean in the world. The west coast of Scotland is renowned for its beautiful scenery and stunning sailing area. From a sailing point of view it is 2nd only to the South coast of the UK as a cruising area. The abundance of bird life, Whales and Dolphins and of course the myriad of islands. This trip will start in Oban and, depending on the weather will take in a visit to Tobermory (famous on TV as Balamory), Tarbert Aran and more. Edinburgh to Belfast. The second stage will see each boat leave the Firth of Forth and make headway north around the top of Scotland, passing the prepossessing Cape Wrath, before finally turning south towards Ireland. Potential stops are: Peterhead, Wick, Possibly Shetland or even the Orkneys, The west coast of Scotland provides splendid sailing and matchless scenery. This is a real must even if you don't like sailing. The Great Glen has some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Sailing alongside mountains, high above sea level, is a unique experience. Starting at Inverness you will rise up through the lock system and traverse this world-renowned feat of engineering that is the Caledonian Canal, linking the natural lochs of Loch Lochy, Loch Oich, Loch Ness and Loch Dochfour, and including the famous ‘Neptune’s Staircase’. The final leg of our journey around Britain starts from Plymouth with a visit to Brixham followed by a long sail to Weymouth, passing Portland Bill and its famous race before stopping in the Solent, possibly Cowes the home of UK sailing – to get our breath back. We will spend a day exploring the Solent possibly stopping at Gosport before a pleasant sail to Hayling Island or Littlehampton. From there it is gentle sailing with the prevailing wind past Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters to Eastbourne and Ramsgate. The last day includes an early start and possibly a night at anchor before arriving at our home port of Burnham where the Harbour staff promise a warm reception including a BBQ.Read more >

Following a visit to the picturesque fishing harbour of Portpatrick (a journey back in time) our route will take us across the Irish Sea to Bangor then a sail down the coast before crossing to Milford Haven. This route takes in the lovely island of Ailsa Craig and the Gannet colony. You can watch them diving from great heights and emerging from the sea with their prey. Ireland is only 60 miles from Portpatrick and is a glorious day sail. The Irish coast is beautiful and, despite Brexit, there are no passport restrictions on UK visitors. From Ireland the yachts will sail for Milford Haven and the wonderful Pembroke-shire coastline.Read more >
