Reviews for Ghana tour, cultural, wildlife & nature

review 21 Apr 2016

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Many interesting experiences - Shai Hills reserve, cocoa farm, kente cloth & adinkra, elmina fort. Purpose for me was to re-visit my childhood beach at Busua which will stay with me for another 53 years - finding the family of people in a photo from 1962 was very special. Loved seeing the countryside, the flora & fauna, and meeting local people.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

I don't think anyone else would book this holiday as it was a personal journey for me, but I would advise both travellers and those arranging their tours to look at the distances and amount of time spent in a vehicle. We spent the majority of a day in a vehicle which was very tiring and meant we had to keep going to reach our destination each evening rather than take a leisurely journey, stopping to take in the sights or visit interesting things en route. If we had known just how long a day's travel was, I would have dropped the long haul to Kumasi in order to enjoy a more leisurely trip. In the end we decided not to visit to Kakum national park and the Stingless Bee Center, which I was keen to see, due to being so tired.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

As far as I can tell we stayed at locally owned hotels. We did not reduce environmental impact because of the huge amount of travelling we did. Not sure how much we supported conservation

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Ghana is a wonderful country - beautiful countryside, lovely friendly people, so much to see and explore. It has not been overly developed for the tourist trade yet and could do better at some national places of interest - the Assin Manso Slave River had an air of neglect and was unmanned at the time of our visit. We had a very good driver who was attentive to our requests. The staff in the office were also very responsive.

Dear Maggie, Thanks for the time to leave us these wonderful feedback! We are also glad that you had an amazing time on the whole on your just ended tour with us and our staff were responsive and attentive to your requests. We have taken note of your comments on the coverage of distances and time spent in the vehicle to see sites listed on your itinerary. Any future travellers on just a similar adventure will be given orientation that covers all areas of their trip including distances, nature of the roads, any useful information to prep them for each day's program. Our doors are always open whenever you need us for any future assistance or information. We wish you all the best in live and say hello to Lizzy for us! Best regards, Tina
