1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The white water rafting excursion down the Kicking Horse River was just fantastic. And just the majestic landscape that is the Canadian Rockies. The rivers, lakes, glaciers, mountains, canyons and waterfalls.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Ensure that any activities you would like to participate in while on the tour are fully understood by the guide and that they are attended to.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

With the exception of the infusion of money into the local economy from purchases while on the tour I did not sense any other contributions.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was an enjoyable camping and hiking holiday in the Canadian Rockies. But, there was little opportunity to participate in the additional activities listed in the tour briefing. As an example horse back riding was listed as a possible side activity. Participation was discussed with the tour guide at the beginning of the tour but little attention was devoted to booking until the very last moment on the very last full day of the tour. Unfortunately, the booking could not be made. This was disappointing. Very few of the other outside activities were offered with the exception of the white water rafting and glacier hike. Don't know if this oversight was due to circumstances or lack of attention by the tour guide. Overall the guide, Carl, was pleasant but seemed most concerned with initiating hiking excursions at the expense of other possible activities. The hikes were enjoyable in an awe inspiring landscape. The camping sites were nice and the logistics were fantastic. The meals were tasty and nicely prepared. Overall, a nice holiday but slightly disappointing with regard to opportunities for activities other than hiking.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

There were many highlights, but the most exciting parts were the white-water rafting on Kicking Horse River, the guided walk on Athabasca Glacier and the wilderness canoe trip in Wells Gray Park. They were all so well organised and professional and we had such a great experience getting to know the local guides and the stunning landscape in each location.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Travel light! Most of the campsites have good facilities, so you really only need to take the basics plus plenty of mosquito repellent if you're travelling in the Summer months. Take a few risks and you'll have lots of fun. It was my first time white-water rafting - I got completely drenched and had a wonderful time! Make sure you have a good, sturdy pair of hiking boots so that you're comfortable with the more strenuous walks at elevation.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We used local, very knowledgeable guides for several activities and were encouraged to be aware of the impact we were having on the landscape - being conscious of leaving places cleaner and tidier than when we arrived, especially campsites.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This was a truly wonderful holiday, full of stunning landscapes, inquisitive wildlife and very friendly people! I felt there was almost an ideal balance of walks - from more strenuous hikes to gentle strolls which suited different ages and abilities. Also our guide Isabella was fantastic in organising everything from the delicious food we were served every day to the driving, logistics of camping and general hospitality. I would recommend this trip very highly!

Yes, we purchased food from locals

It was enjoyable
