Reviews for Peloponnese holiday villas, Greece

review 20 Aug 2017

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The Peloponnese is very beautiful, so green and relatively quiet. There were so many beaches, and even in August, they weren't crowded. Beach tavernas on quieter beaches were lovely.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Find the wonderful roadside fruit and veg stalls if you're driving (not the trucks driving through Methoni which are over-priced and grumpy). Simon will give you a list of beaches, which are definitely worth visiting (take a snorkel), but all of the beaches are relatively quiet. Kalamata is the nearest airport, but it's a long but easy drive from Athens on a great road - if driving from Athens you'll need about 15 euros each way for tolls for the new motorway.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Simon's place has solar heating and a compost heap if you want to use it. Shops in Methoni and nearby all feel local, the little supermarket may be a chain but otherwise they are local businesses. Methoni is not overly-touristy. We had wind-surfing lessons and board hire from a fantastic local guy in town, rather than the bigger company up the road. We used the roadside fruit and veg stalls when we were passing. We ate at tavernas owned by local people.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Magical. Incredibly friendly, very beautiful, wonderfully peaceful, but plenty to do.
