1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Very bad / dangerous winter driving condtions, though when it was clear the scenery was stunning.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Avoid winter period. As the prevailing condtions are still bad at the end of March, it suggests late April onwards would be better? Be aware that Iceland is a very expensive place.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Difficult to say, though we did stay at a number of very nice guesthouses in small communities, which economically would be good for the area. However, overall it is clear that there are now too many tourists going to Iceland - population approx. 372,000 vs +2 million tourists per anumum!4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
If like me you're a geologist or astronomer, Iceland is a fascinating location with some great geology and night skies (when it's clear) but probably should be avoided in the winter period when road conditions can be very bad / dangerous. Appreciated the planning by the local operator and the accomodation chosen, that were mostly very nice.Janet Ewing review 21 Jul 2021
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
They created a 10 day trip going from the South west to the North east, driving through the center and all of it was fabulous. (We had been to Iceland once before so we had no desire to spend time again in the Golden Circle area. ) River rafting with Bakkaflot through some 4+ rapids was so exciting of course and the Puffins in Bakkagerdi were just amazing. So many and the site allows you to be so close to their nesting area. We were also fortunate to see the whales in Hauganes2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We had hiking poles along and used them on many of our hikes. Of course Iceland is all about layers and we did end up using our rain pants. We also brought along "energy bars" for snacks and often ate them either on the trail or while driving. The selection of picnic food in the local markets is so so and expensive but we were easily able to buy cheese and bread. We were lucky in the Myvatyn area as the gnats weren't very plentiful but if you have a mosquito face net bring it just in case. The Dacia 4 wheel drive Duster was a great vehicle for the interior and its such a popular rental we were part of the "Duster brigade".3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Tourism is back full force now in Iceland but the country has it together reminding their visitors to take care of the environment by sticking to the trails. We were pleased to see the progress in the growth of their forests since our previous visit and this company contributes to tree planting.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We visited Iceland for the 2016 summer half-term week with all our family. There were eight of us, from three generations. So the most memorable part of this trip was all of us being together in such an inspiring outdoor environment. In particular our grandchildren loved it. Each of us had favorites within this holiday. Most popular was visiting the ice cave near Myvatn, closely followed by dramatic whale-watching (at least 14 whales) from Husavik, and the Detifoss waterfall despite it being hard to reach because of the snow. We also enjoyed the Snaefellsjokull, Myvatn nature baths, hot springs and a midnight walk round a volcano crater.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
See more than one part of Iceland as they can be quite different - and try to escape the regular tourist trail. Hire a car.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Iceland is becoming a major tourist destination, convenient for both North America and Europe, and there are many tourists from Asia. At present it is tourism that is benefiting the local people, but taken to excess, in the longer term, it could lead to undesirable environmental impacts.4. We had a brilliant time, well organised by the holiday provider.Jennifer Moon review 24 Aug 2016
