1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We loved Bagan. It was such a contrast to the chaotic traffic in Yangon and the place we stayed was beautiful, on the river with lovely gardens. The stupas were wonderful and the horse and cart way of seeing them were fun too. The other highlight was U Bein's bridge in Mandalay. It sounded crowded and hackneyed, but in fact was magical. All those black sticklike figures crossing the bridge against the sunset were amazing. The contrast between the countryside
and housing in Mandalay, which was poor and mostly built of bits and pieces, and that in the Shan state was very marked. Shan state is well off and many people could afford small concrete homes.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure you know what accommodation you have. Look it up on booking.com. Ours was very mixed.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It only benefitted the country in the sense that the tourist industry provides jobs.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A very good holiday among delightful people. A little hard to be too enthusiastic as I am still suffering badly from food poisoning got from our last accommodation on lake Heho and a parasitic infection.

We always offer the very best accommodation available for a clientís budget, and all of our recommendations are for properties which have been visited personally by one of our teams. The majority of our accommodations are locally owned boutique properties, especially in a destination such as Asia. On all itineraries we provide a direct link to the hotel accommodation so that clients can do their own research.
Although most tourism benefits Myanmar through providing jobs we believe that a holiday made through us has a much larger impact on the country. All our guides are paid well above the minimum wages for guides, meaning that although appreciated, tips are not expected. We can also organise visits to various local projects and create itineraries which visit smaller and poorer areas that donít benefit as much from tourism. We are continually looking to see how we can add responsible travel initiatives and this is a key part of our partnerships with suppliers, local agents and hotels.
