Reviews for Uganda gorilla tour & Murchison Falls

review 2 Aug 2018

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

So many - the highlights were seeing the gorillas after 2.5 hours trekking, flying on a cesna over Lake Albert and landing on a grass landing strip with elephants by the side of the runway, watching hippos from the balcony of the lodge, arriving to the lodge by boat

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

You need to be fit if you are going to trek the gorillas and be aware you find them on very steep slopes! Definitely hire a porter for $15 between you - even if you have only a small knapsack - they help you up & down the slopes to stop you falling. They are on a rota system so only get the offer of work once a month the money means a lot to them

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Absolutely - all staff in the lodges and porters were local putting money back into the community, the lodges were carbon neutral, the money raised from the permits went directly to conservation of the animals and into the education of the local communities.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The operator did an amazing job of tailor-making our trip by getting to know our likes and dislikes and using their very extensive local knowledge to advise us. It was the best trip we have done and we have had some other fantastic experiences also through Responsible Travel
