Reviews for 5 day holiday in Jordan

review 5 Sep 2018

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

For sure the highlight was Wadi Rum which was spectacular. Its an eerie landscape with incredible colours and light, perfect for the keen photographers out there. The sites in Petra are amazing too but please note comments below.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Check the hotel accommodation carefully as ours was poor and I regret now not upgrading.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Petra is highly commercialised, disappointingly so in my opinion, and there was scant evidence in among the bric-a-brac of the souvenir stalls of much serious commitment to conservation of any type. The local people benefit from having tourists there to help fund their communities and they are pretty effective and creative at that. Hire a local guide at Petra to make sure you get the most from the visit.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Average. Arriving in Amman and staying in a poor hotel is not a great way to start a holiday. We also went over Eid which was in hindsight a mistake unless you are with a major tour operator. We had other gremlins too so overall we were a little disappointed.
