1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The location of the cottage is delightful. We could sit on the balcony overlooking the hills to the sea and pick delicious sweet grapes from the vines surrounding us. Every night we ate at the small local restaurants which were a short walk away and everyone was so friendly.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Deborah was a great host and helped us with lifts into Kalkan or to the nearest dolmus but others might prefer to have a car.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, I felt that we were supporting the local community.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

We loved the area, the people and the history and want to come back and explore further.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Lurkey Turkey! The stand out stay of the menagerie of dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, etc. lurkey was also the not so proud father of approx 9 hatchlings just before we left. The views, the ambience and the rushing streams of water, the locals, the fish restaurants, etc. and the library of books.......

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

The Lycian way is a couple of very steep Kms away so not really an option unless you have a car. Deborah did offer to drive us and pick us up as she did for our trip to local towns and to and from the bus station. It was a bit chilly when we were there but the fire was very smoky- did not draw well- so the room became very smoky.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We had a lovely meal at the local fish restaurant- we were their only customers for the day- a bit sad. We went to the local markets. The shopkeepers were very friendly. We walked to most places and took our plastic bags when shopping. The locals are very free with giving you bags.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Enjoyed our week. Deborah is a very interesting person and the house is full of her beautiful paintings and a collection from Mexico. Much more pleasant than staying in one of the touristy towns. Certainly a great way to see the locals in action away from the hordes of tourists.

Read the operator's response here:

Sorry about the smokey wood burner! I wish you had told me as I didnít realize until I discovered the metal pipe needed cleaning after the winter. It usually works well and I bought it this winter as it is wrought iron and brick and not the usual tin variety! The steep Lycian Way walk you mention I think is the one that goes to Kas. Just for the record, the Lycian Way going down to Xanthos crosses the Islamlar Road 2K down the road and there is a loop from Akbel to Patara that is quite flat.
