Reviews for India by Rail, Northeast & Darjeeling

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Contrary to expectations I really enjoyed the overnight train journeys. Travelling with the locals was a great experience and gave us chance to chat and get to know fellow travellers

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for a shock when you first arrive. India appears at first as a chaotic crowded, noisy, messy and smelly place but somehow everything work. Be patient and try not to let the chaos and noise get to you, after a few days you will get used to it and it becomes the norm. Although the traffic is truly chaotic there is no road rage and at no time did we feel unsafe. The food is great but we stayed away from the delicious smelling street food, drank only purified or bottled water. We left without contracting Delhi Belly. Local beer and wine are surprisingly good.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely benefited the local people but not so sure about conservation or reducing environmental impact. India is very much third world and these are only just starting to become relevant.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A very tiring but very rewarding experience. An excellent itinerary
