1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

We enjoyed the various habitats and environments and had a very amenable and flexible guide who went out of her way to ensure we had the best possible experience.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

If you just want to concentrate on finding as many birds as possible or specific birds, this is perhaps not for you. If you want an introduction to the birds, environment and culture of Andalusia it us ideal.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

All of the above.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. We learnt a lot and had a great time with a our guide and fellow travelers.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The whole week was excellent but the birdwatching in the Donana national park particularly so. Raptors, flamingos, beeaters, herons and more in a single day.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

A big plus for this holiday is you get Spanish guides who know the local birdwatching places and make a real superhuman effort for you to see the incredible variety of Spring birdlife in Southern Spain.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The company is a Spanish adventure business, employing people who know for example, where the best locally-owned eating places for lunch are each day. And not a McDonalds in site. The self catering apartments owned by the company are also very good, with a well-stocked fridge when you arrive, to help you along

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

First Class. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I will always remember the beauty of flamingoes, avocets and stilts close up, and seeing a hoopoe for the first time. The great part about this holiday was learning to identify so many birds in different habitats in springtime Andalusia with the expert assistance of our guide Sergio. He knew so much about the birds, but also about the local environment, animal tracks, local environment and land use history, culture and current issues. We stayed in a lovely quiet apartment stocked with basic food. It looked out on the water in Isla Cristina. On this trip we went to places we could not have reached by ourselves.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

The operator provided all the necessary information, good binoculars, access to bird guides and telescope, and van for travel. The list of what to bring covered everything needed.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Local people benefited as we used local restaurants and bars daily during the holiday. The holiday supported conservation by spreading knowledge about local threatened species and habitats, and through visits to Interpretation centres in La Donana and in Portugal.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

An excellent week, and great addition to more usual tourist activities in Spain and Portugal.

Thanks a lot Libby and Ross!! It was also a pleasure for us to be birding during a week in west Andalusia and Portugal. Anytime you come back to the area you are welcome. All the best
