Lindsay Seed review 24 Sep 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Scenery, weather, diversity of accommodation and walks.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Unless you are au fait with GPS, get the maps! The ones provided (photocopies mainly) are difficult to read accurately and the written instructions are sparse. The extra mountain tops were worth doing for views and sense of achievement! French is often spoken as well as Italian and many younger folk speak English.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, definitely benefited local people who were all very friendly and helpful and apart from Bergamo fed us large evening meals and picnics. All our overnight stops bar one were in interesting local b n bs or agriturismi.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A VG trip for walking from Bergamo, so easy to get to and from! Quite beautiful, we were blessed with amazing sunny weather and stunning views. More road/ hard surface walking than we had hoped for but the via mercantorum was a green treat!

thank you for your comments.
A note about the maps: On other tours of mine the hikers receive the original map of the area of which the route book contains extracts with the route drawn in. In this case only one map is available on which the route of two hiking days are clearly depicted and you will receive that one. For the other hikes I digitally recomposed a map out of 5 maps and draw in the hikes. You won't find these hikes shown on the original maps though since these are the fruit of good knowledge of the area. I do my best to make maps and indications as clear as possible but, as you understand, we're going 'off the beaten track' here (thus guaranteeing that some overnight stays will be authentic experiences).
