Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

As cycling instructors and keen cyclists we are dedicated to, and focused on helping people explore the outdoors and get fit at the same time. The nature of our business means that we are using a sustainable form of transport and we help others to do the same. We have starter sessions to help people learn to ride, or become more confident on a mountain bike. Being confident on a bike is crucial when wanting to ride in urban areas and by helping people gain these skills, they can hopefully cycle as a more sustainable form of transport during their daily lives.

As individuals we are driven by trying to show people the beautiful and brilliant countryside and making it much more accessible to them. We want to help everyone, whether that is people outside of the area who are visiting, or those that live in the area and need a helping hand to find out about their surroundings. We have personally tried out and risk assessed all of the routes, so we know what we are going to come across and can be sensitive to the people cycling as well as the animals and plants we might come across on the way. We also know about the area and can inform people about their landscape and the places and things within it.

The Impacts of this Trip

We currently run free sessions on Sundays that are aimed to help people with their general wellbeing. New Start Rides are our way of aiding people who want a healthier and more active lifestyle, or people who might be in recovery after treatment and other set backs. We emphasise in providing just enough support and help to get people going. We are currently in the process of linking with the council to get it spread across our local community and help people’s fitness levels and wellbeing.

We are involved in some charity work that focuses on helping individuals recovering from treatment. Dean came to us last year during his gradual recovery from cancer treatment with the aim of getting fit again. He also wanted to raise money for the people who had cared for him at the Sussex Cancer Centre. We helped set him up a programme and get him back on his bike and get in shape for the charity event in July. He will undertake the challenge of riding the whole of the South Downs Way in two days! The centre is a very good cause that we have a personal attachment to also, and so we are all involved in the charity cycle ride to help raise the money as well. We want to do more to help people in a similar position to help them recover from treatment or illness.
