Costa Rica rainforest tree houses
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
For the transport from and to a property we use electric cart. On the property we have walking trails only.Even we are located in the primary rain forest, we planted around 200 native species of the trees which suports greater variety of wildlife.
We recycle practicaly everything and organic matter is used for animal feeders or for compost. We collect rain water which we use for shower and sink. We use only biodegradable products. Water goes back to root system of a tree. We have dry-eco toilet. We use solar panels to charge the batteries to generate energy for lights and elevator. All the lights are minimum consuption led lights.
Home sweet home: Our structure makes zero environmental impact. It is removable! We are nature lovers. All of the wood used was from fallen trees. To walk to the tree, we made Indian paths without moving or cutting any living plant and only minimaly changing the landscape. Parts of the income that would be generated from this activity will be reinvested in buying more rainforest to protect and preserve it for ever and to prove that a living tree is more valuable than a dead tree.

Our guests will learn, see and taste the gifts of a forest. Eatable fruits and plants, jungle medicines. Rest of the foods we buy at local organic market and from the local afro-caribbean fisherman.
We asked local indian tribesman to decorate the Observatorio a little with they handcrafts. We have paintings with jungle and nature theames, wood carvings of some favorite forest dwellers (monkeys, iguana, poison dart frog, toucans) and we have some beautifuly made matths that we use for walls and covers. Curved bamboo railings are also a product of skillfull hands and minds of Nasso Tribe indians.
Carribean coast of Costa Rica has its original guardians of the forests. They are the tribes of Bri-Bri, Cavecars, Kekoldi and Nasso indians. There is no better way to campaign for they future survival than protect they forests where they live and stop the deforestation. So our plan is to expand the rain forest.
We trained all our indigenous guides how to use different rope and tree climbing techniques. We provide them with the possibility to work in enviroment that they love and they are familiar with. The FOREST! They get much higher salary than (only other option) bannana company offers. We offer english classes for them.
Our mission is to expand rain forest. So we created the Land Fund where we place portion from our operation. This money is used to purchase more forest or damaged land for reforestation and conservation. Without the doubt the visitors will experience new appreciation for nature from the natives prospective and a stay at the canopy of a giant tree will give you not only birds eye views but possibility to maybe discover a new specie of live on this Earth.
