Ethiopia holidays, tailor made reviewed by Elizabeth Treherne
There are lots to choose from. For me it was a day spent climbing to rock churches in the Tigrai area. For my husband it was the churches in Lalibela. We both loved walking in the Simien mountains and time spent with the gelada monkeys.
There is a lot to see. We added a couple of extra days in to the itinerary and still found it quite a busy holiday. Try to find some time to just soak up the atmosphere.
Yes. Many local guides used. A couple of the tribal visits in the South were uncomfortable as it felt that the tribes were altering their way of life to get money from tourists, but others were excellent with tourist income used to make improvements for the whole of the community. Visits to the local markets were good - everyone carrying on their usual business and hardly anything done specifically for tourists.
Very good. We enjoyed the variety of the trip.
