Family holiday to Jordan, Journey to the Lost City
At the risk of sounding over the top with enthusiasm I would answer "All of it" to this question. We went to Jordan and returned renewed, stimulated and educated and with a new understanding of the culture, history and politics of the Middle East. This was in in no small way due to the effort and enthusiasm of our guide, Usama Awad. Are all of this companies guides as brilliant as he was? (more)Fiona O
It was a very inspirational holiday...Staying at Dana guesthouse supported a very important nature biosphere. (more)sharyn hall

Jordan holiday, a week in Jordan
The most memorable parts were the walks through Wadi Rum - and the climb up a mountain. Epic scenery, absolute quiet and amazing exercise. (more)Jane Welsh
Excellent. Would thoroughly recommend it....The first glimpse of Petra has got to be up there as one of my most WOW moments of all time, not just on this holiday. (more)Joyce Wright
I loved the holiday. It was well organised, our guide was fantastic; he was enthusiastic and evidently proud of his country which came across in the way he talked. His knowledge of all the sites we went to was extremely good, his timing excellent, suggestions for evening meals were very good too. (more)Judith Murray

Oman small group tour
Memorable parts? 'Most memorable' is a hard call - I lost count of the number of times we said, 'Isn't that amazing!' Going to St George's Basilica for the Christmas Eve service on 6th January. How the stars blazed when we camped 12,000 feet up in the Simien mountains. Staying in a traditional house in the old quarter in the Muslim town of Harar. Meeting the Scottish lady who is setting up a restaurant in Lalibela. Tips? Take full advantage of the tour operators knowledge and experience... (more)Helen Yapp

Driving through a Wadi with water flowing through it. Driving the sand dunes in the desert. The mountain scenery is great. (more)Adrian O Malley
The most memorable part was the surprise at arriving at the camp in the Wahiba Sands for our night of Wild Camping and instead of finding the little 2-man tent that we had expected we found a luxury tent complete with bathroom, proper beds, carpets, oriental cushions and lanterns which had been set up just for us. (more)Sally Frohlich
Driving down to Wadi Bani Awf. Awesome. Also the night in the desert where the operator found us a camp where we were completely alone, 8 km through the dunes from the main camp, itself small and remoter than the bigger camps. (more)Peta Constable

Exciting family holiday in Jordan
Memorable parts? All of it! We all had our personal highlights though. Hannah (11) loved swimming in the Dead Sea, Ciaran (15) loved climbing, the cycle ride and the history in Jerash, Little Petra and Petra, Luke (51) loved the camel journey, Jo (50) loved sitting round the fire with the Bedouins and trading gifts and tea with the Bedouin women in their tents. Tips? Be flexible, open minded and be up for the challenge! Local benefits? Yes, we came away feeling that the... (more)Jo Tunmer

The whole holiday has been a dream of mine for 25 years and it more than lived up to expectations. The pyramids, temples and tombs were amazing. The Nile cruise was 10 times better than we expected - lovely staff and surroundings, especially the surprise animals made out of towels on our beds each night! (more)Janice Gould

Yoga & diving holiday, Egypt
It's almost impossible to put into words how restful, life affirming and soul enhancing this yoga diving holiday at the Bedouin Moon hotel has been. The combination of learning deeply restful, energising and challenging breathing yoga techniques with diving over some of the most stunning reefs in the world I will never ever forget. This was my first visit to Egypt and the holiday was a great introduction to Dahab and diving in the region. The diving was amazing. Israel holidays, small group tour
Memorable parts? There were lots of memorable moments. We visited many sites spanning about 5000 years of history. Our guide was very knowledgable and aimed to bring history to life with clear explanations without getting bogged down with minutiae. He was able to answer questions for those who wanted more information. I liked the varied mix of people in the group with eight different countries represented. Just picking out a few hightlights: the boat journey on the Sea of Galilee on a beautiful... (more)Sheila Jukes

Iran cultural holiday
Memorable parts? Isfahan followed very closely by Yazd. It was good to have free time in which to explore the cities and meet the people. Tips? Iran is not as unsafe as sometimes portrayed in the press and media. The people were very friendly and helpful and there was no obvious police presence. Dress for women was not as strict as expected and although the headscarf was a given, many wore fashionable clothes in bright colours without being covered by a black chador. Be prepared... Oman holiday, Forts and Deserts of Oman
Memorable parts? The desert, mountains and hospitality in Oman. Tips? Distances are long in Muscat so make sure you book a hotel with a convenient location. We made a tailor-made contract with the operator. However, the tour was subcontracted to a local travel agent - not ideal when problems arise! Often there was a miss-match between given itinerary and actual plan, not that we missed anything but somehow annoying. Book your holiday directly and you are in control! Local benefits? Not... Cruise and swim with dolphins in Egypt
Memorable parts? Put simply, this is probably one of the best holidays I've ever been on and this is largely down to the exceptional customer care that this company offers both in the UK and in Egypt. The highlight of course was swimming with wild dolphins out in a protected reef in the middle of beautiful clear blue sea. Beyond that though the location, the food, the helpfulness of the staff, the accommodation and the attention to detail were all excellent. 2. What tips would you give... (more)Candida Perkis

Nile cruise & cultural holiday, Egypt
The tour guides provided historical background and information on the sights to stimulate our imagination and awe. Ahmed, our guide in Luxor and Aswan was knowledgeable, answered all our questions and patiently taught us to read hieroglyphics carved in the temples. (more)Hou-Yin Ma
My most memorable part of my holiday was my visit to The Pyramids of Giza, Abu Simbel and Karnak Temple. Part of the reason I consider my entire trip memorable is because of my tour guides. (more)Mary Lyons
Most memorable? I think the Pyramids at Giza and the paintings in the tomb of Ramses I, or perhaps it was the gold mask of Tutankamun, or was it the statue of Ramses II at Memphis... it was always a jaw-dropping moment at each place we visited. (more)Amanda Bristow

Definitely the Abu Simbel Sun Miracle we were able to witness and experience was the highlight. To be able to see 3 of the 4 pharaohs light up from sun coming through, was an experience we will never forget. (more)Lori Bautista
The owners of Nubia House are extraordinarily gracious and really want you to experience the Nubian way of life; their guest house is decorated in traditional handicrafts, they serve excellent homemade Nubian food, and the atmosphere is serene (more)Janice Darling
From 546 excluding flights
Family adventure holiday to Jordan, Lawrence of Arabias Adventures
Memorable parts? We really enjoyed the variety and opportunity to scratch the surface of a friendly country with a knowledgeable guide who was a real ambassador for his country, but the majesty of Petra & add-on tour round little Petra was the highlight. Tips? Don't underestimate the physical challenges of Petra, especially if the weather is hot. The whole itinerary is fairly full-on, so consider it as a great experience opportunity rather than a restful break Local benefits? Tourism... (more)Bruce Margetts

Budget holiday in Egypt
The guides in Cairo and in Shram were of great help, involved and dedicated. They made the stay worth it....Excellent because the people that I met prove to be very interested, interesting and prepared to share their culture. (more)Louis Boucher
We liked visiting the pyramids on the back of a camel and the Valley of the Kings very much. As one of our tour guides was so kind to invite us to his home we could meet his family and get an idea how people live in Egypt today. (more)Boris Schaeling

Iraq Kurdistan holiday
Memorable parts? The visit to the battlefield of 331BC Guagemela where Alexander the Great defeated Darius III was particularly good because of the excellent talk on the history and strategy employed. However the scenery in the mountains, the Kurdish people and the many historic and cultural site were all interesting and memorable. Tips? The more you have read about the area first the more I think you get from the trip. Be prepared to be flexible and enjoy it as it comes. Local... (more)Jenny Maddick

Jordan family holiday, The Lost City of Petra
Memorable parts? Visiting Petra Tips? Do a bit of background reading regarding the historical sites you will be visiting and the customs and culture of the country; this will allow you to get more out of your holiday experience. Local benefits? Yes certainly benefited local people since the majority of services used were locally sourced and the tour guide often stressed the importance of minimising the environmental impact eg minimising waste, not wasting water etc Overall... Small group tour of Egypt, Nubian adventure
Memorable parts? The 3 day cruise on the Nile and the history Tips? Be prepared for some fierce heat, hat and sunscreen essential, also the local stall holders can be very persistent..one has to rember it's their livlihood and not take offence. Local benefits? yes, Egypt is desperate for tourism at the moment and those depending on tourists are really doing it tough. Not sure about 'reducing environmental impacts' that's a tricky one in Egypt...tourists are the cleanest... (more)Angela Guildford

Best of Egypt and Jordan holiday
Memorable parts? The BEST thing about our trip was the absolutely wonderful service we received from the tour company. Tips? Don't settle for the "usual" tour, do your research, decide what you want to see and talk to your tour company. The operator helped us create the tour that was perfect for us. Local benefits? Yes, our holiday benefited the local people. Tourist are staying away from Egypt because they are concerned about the political instability. But we had a wonderful... (more)Janie Kuczer
