How this holiday makes a difference

Environment

Tasmania is a nature, wildlife, heritage and food & wine paradise! We believe that by respecting and preserving natural, cultural and social resources in the long run, and contribute in a positive and equitable way to the development and fulfilment of individuals living, working and staying in these areas, we are improving the experience we provide to our guests.

The company undergoes annual environmental audits to become Earth Check certified. The three indicators, Energy Consumption, Potable Water Consumption, Waste Sent to Landfill, against which the company is benchmarked, were at the Best Practice level for 2010 and above Best Practice level for 2011, which is an achievement that was highly commended. The certification requirements are based on both, the office practices as well as touring practices.

In recognizing the vital need for a healthy natural environment, we extended sponsorship to the Raptor and Wildlife Refuge of Tasmania and financed a Tasmanian Devil video monitoring program at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. The set up is part of Tasmania’s “save the Devil” campaign and is used for research purposes. The Tasmanian Devil has been listed as an endangered species due to a contagious facial tumor disease spreading fast and affecting the population to critical levels. Our guests are able to see and experience the project as we visit the sanctuary with our tours (unless guests do not wish to do so).

Community

We believe that we are able to showcase what Tasmania has to offer by preserving and supporting local culture, local businesses and sustainable development. Wherever possible, we contract locally owned suppliers for accommodation, attractions and food & beverage outlets. We maintain close relationships with our suppliers and ensure that we contract companies (wherever possible) which set high focus on responsible tourism practices and work ethics.

We have been supporting a number of local and international charities over the years as well as relive programs which provided support and help for people and tourism industry businesses affected by nature disasters.

The company is based in Tasmania and we pride ourselves in being the local experts and understanding the island’s treasures. We employ local tour guides to ensure that our guests receive a ‘true’ Tasmanian experience but also to contribute to our local workforce.

This itinerary has been created to showcase Tasmania’s wildlife in its natural environment and reducing any impacts by working closely with the individual parks & wildlife rangers and following their best practices recommendations specific to the areas visited. The maximum group size and driving distances have also been carefully evaluated to ensure minimum impact.

The company contributes to the conservation of Tasmania’s living icon, the Devil, with donations to the “save the Devil” campaign. For every guest who travels on this private tour a donation will be made.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
