Memorable parts? The stunning scenery and peaceful moorings. The wildlife especially the seals and beautiful shoals of jellyfish floating like alien creatures in a calm sea. Memorable parts? Hot Spring hunt and heritage tour plus horse riding The glacier walk, the visits to the waterfalls and Vik Bay. Tips? If you have children be aware that many of the starts are at 8 or 8.30 in the am. Particularly because we had a very early flight from Bristol, our teenage children found the early starts a bit much over the week Local benefits? Memorable parts? The stay at the Tree Hotel was brilliant. The accommodation is great, the food delicious and the people wonderful. The whole experience was great, but probably the dog sledding outing was the stand-out element. Tips? Make sure you have a turn at driving the dog sled! If you're thinking of a visit to the Ice Hotel, go for a day trip, or stay in the warm accommodation. Memorable parts? The location was superb with amazing views overlooking the glen. We learned fascinating traditional skills, collecting lichens and bracken fronds from the woods and making up a wide range of natural dyes, using open wood fires. We dyed fleeces and fabric, mixing our colours, which were astonishingly vibrant and ready to take on to the next step for spinning or felting. Memorable parts? Walking on snow at the top of Cairn Gorm mountain in July at a day time temperature of 28 degrees! Tips? Have an appreciation of scenery, wildlife, flora. be fit and not mind about being busy. There's loads more to do in the Aviemore region so think about extend your trip.
