Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

You will be hiking through the beautiful Dana Nature Reserve on this tour. This reserve is established by the RSCN in 1989 and it is Jordan's largest nature reserve covering 320 km2 of rugged and beautiful landscape. Dana is the most diverse nature reserve of Jordan. More than 800 plant species can be found and a wide variety of wildlife. To be able to enter the reserve entry tickets must be paid, these include conservation fees.

Dana Nature Reserve was the first reserve in Jordan that seeks to find a balance between protecting Dana's natural wonders and meeting the needs of the locals people. Following this approach, Dana became the first site in which responsible tourism began taking place. You are sure to contribute to that by visiting the reserve via the entry tickets you buy.

People

In Dana Nature Reserve a lot of care has been put into making a model that conserves the reserve yet gives the local community their fair rights. The reserve allows for grazing and recreation zones so that the local community continues to exist.

When hiking through Jordan you will be accompanied by a local English speaking experienced hiking guide. We only use local guides, not only do they know all the area's you will hike through very well. It is also a way to support the local community. There will also be a local chef on your tour who will freshly prepare all meals for you during your hike.

Our team of local employees is ready to assist you. All the people we work with are given a fair compensation for their hard efforts. When we see training opportunities that we believe will help our employees, we encourage them to take those opportunities and we happily pay for them.
