Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

As you can't drink tap water in Thailand, we’ve installed refillable water stations at nearly all of our overnight stops, and at many of our activity locations to help reduce single use plastics and promote reusable alternatives. We advise all our travellers to bring a reusable water bottle when they travel, but for those that don’t we also sell branded bottles on all our trips.
We’ve seen first hand how tourism can contribute to the abuse and mistreatment of animals, and it devastates us. To help end this, we support and visit a number of local animal welfare groups, we ensure no animal is ever hurt or negatively impacted by our activities, and we’ve even adopted a number of rescue animals at the properties we own.
You'll notice that as part of our Thai Experience trip, we visit an elephant sanctuary in Phuket. Tree Tops Elephant Reserve rescue and retire working elephants who previously worked exhausting hours in the logging industry, or gave rides and performed in shows for tourist entertainment. The sanctuary is there to observe elephants as they roam and socialize peacefully throughout the sanctuary, and bathe and play naturally without crowds of people in the water.
The visit to the sanctuary helps rescue and save more elephants, and preserve the forests and its precious wildlife.
We plant 10 trees per Thai Experience booking.
The Impacts of this Trip
Travellers on our Thai Experience trip, have the chance to support the development of the Rungfah Farm Stay in Khao Sok National Park. The brain child of our enigmatic friend Mr You, the back to basics sustainable farm promotes eco friendly living, including using self produced and eco friendly fertiliser. Mr You built his homestay by hand and uses solar power to generate energy, with all funds paid to him being used to help support his young family, as well as the upkeep of the farm.
Throughout Thai Experience we stay at locally owned and operated accommodation.
Our accommodation on the island of Koh Phangan, Sarana Bungalows, our receptionist has started English lessons. Between working full shifts as a receptionist, she gathered all our Burmese colleagues to teach them basic English. Helping them to learn everything from simple greetings to their favourite food, she's using her exceptional language skills to help her friends learn a new skill, while also giving them the confidence to advance in the world of tourism.
On top of this, she's also helping some of the class read and write in their native Burmese for the FIRST time - meaning they can understand simple written Burmese for the first time ever.
