Description of Canadian Rockies cycling holiday

This Canadian Rockies cycling holiday might start amongst some of the most famous faces in the Rockies – but really, it’s all about exploring the lesser-pedalled roads of British Columbia’s Interior Mountains.

That’s because this route is designed by our Canada cycling specialist based in the heart of the Rockies. They’ve been in the business for almost 40 years, pairing you up with local mountain guides who know all the remote mountain roads, secluded coves and village bakeries that other cyclists might miss.

Lake Louise is your warm-up – your chance for a group photo op and getting to know your bike and fellow cyclists. Over the next six days, peaceful roads, lakes, national parks and starry skies call. Highlights include the sleepy mountain towns of Revelstoke and Nakusp, plus snaking lakeside roads and storied ex-railroad paths. And you can rest assured that the national park fees included in the tour help preserve these spectacular vistas.

There’s time out of the saddle too. Soak weary calves in hot springs and alpine lakes, hop on a ferry across Arrow Lake, or pop by the handweavers and woodcarvers of Crawford Bay. Don’t worry: a support vehicle is on hand throughout to carry any souvenirs (and weary cyclists!). Electric bikes are available too – ideal for that last push to the peak.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

This cycling vacation offers you the opportunity to connect and lay eyes on some of the most iconic big mammals of North America.
You may see grizzly and black bears, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, deers, etc.
At the beginning of your holiday, we will give an extended briefing on how to safely interact with the wildlife while out riding. Things such as not feeding them and keeping a safe distance will be the focal point of the briefing. Wildlife plays a massive role in the ecosystems we will be visiting, it is our duty to protect and limit our impact on these ecosystems. We have taken steps such as limiting to bare minimum single-use plastic throughout your holiday. We use reusable cutlery, plates, and cups for our lunches in the field. Lunches and snacks will be served in a family-style format. Meaning we will have a buffet spread of healthy and nourishing meals to fuel you during your ride. This eliminates the use of plastic bags to individually pack meals and snacks and gives us an opportunity to sit back and enjoy our food in a gorgeous setting.

This tour is fully supported by a 15 passenger bus and a trailer. Given the remoteness of the locations we visit, this unit allows us to ensure your comfort during your time with us.
In 2021, we updated our support trailer with a brand new all-aluminum body unit to reduce our gross weight by about 1300lbs. The weight drop allows us to save on our daily fuel consumption.
Although we have the support vehicle you will be spending minimal time in it, we want you to pedal, to immerse yourself in the beautiful high alpine environment from the saddle of your bike and not from behind a pane of glass.

People

We pride ourselves on being a small family business operating in a tight-knit mountain town of the Canadian Rockies.
Our offering would not be possible without the help and support of our community and the communities we visit along the way.
Majority of the communities we visit rely heavily on tourism, recent events have highlighted how important it is to support each other.

We have selected accommodation and restaurants that are locally owned and/ or operated and taken time to ensure that their values align with ours.
The restaurants we dine with have made a concerted effort to use local produce, therefore ensuring a level of freshness and circulation of support to the wider community.

We are extremely proud to hire local mountain people as guides on this tour to best share and represent the culture and values of the region. Our guides are the centerpiece of our operation, without them, we couldn't offer you this amazing tour.
