Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Our small group rewilding tours are designed with our planet in mind. We encourage the use of public transport to reach the Cairngorms and offer a complimentary transfer from the nearest train/bus station on both the arrival and departure day. There is also an electric vehicle charging point at the accommodation, if required.

We use one trusted accommodation provider for the duration of the 5 nights, that sits within its own rewilding reserve on the edge of the River Feshie and is firmly commited to restoring nature. We can cater to all dietary requirements and mainly serve a vegetarian menu, with the only meat on offer being sustainable wild venison. The talented catering team use seasonal, local produce and often incorporate foraged ingredients into their delicious menu.

Importantly, this trip is run by a Scottish charity. After covering the necessary costs associated with delivering our tours, such as accommodation, food, transport and guiding, we are left with a surplus which, unlike a commercial tour operator with shareholders, is reinvested into our rewilding work that is crucial for addressing the growing climate and biodiversity crises.

Lastly, our rewilding tours are specifically designed to generate awareness around rewilding, and inspire guests to make changes in their own lives, whether that be rewilding their own space, or changing their spending habits to support more sustainable businesses. We are driving more support for rewilding and offering these rewilding trips helps us to achieve our vision of a vast network of rewilded land and water across Scotland, where wildlife flourishes and people thrive.

People

In many countries across the world, including Scotland, people are moving to urban areas for better opportunities. We do not want to see our rural landscapes devoid of people. As such, we are committed to developing nature-based business models that show how a rural landscape rich in nature can also support vibrant communities.

We are a relatively small organisation that has a number of staff based remotely in Scotland. As we operate solely in Scotland and primarily in the Cairngorms National Park, we work with local, independent suppliers and employ local staff where ever possible. For our tours, we employ freelance guides that live locally and have exceptional knowledge. We also ensure they receive above market renumeration for their services.

What's more, we visit a number of rewilding sites for guided tours during this trip, and make use of an exceptional independent accommodation provider that sources the majority of its food and drinks from local suppliers. In doing so, we are demonstrating that rewilding is an economically viable land use in Scotland.
