1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Trekking through the Holumba mountain region was beautiful and an experience never to forget. We stayed in authentic places and ate lunch in local places, to an extent I've never known on another tour. I valued it so much.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

I heartily recommend this holiday. It did not take any extreme fitness levels to undertake. For the Kathmandu part it is worth thinking in advance what you'd like to do. The yoga and spa portions are a few hours each day so there is time around them. The monkey temple and bhacktapur are both worth a visit. You need to haggle in tourist stores but as you don't want to actually short change anyone it's worth checking with Achut and Keshev how much things like rickshaw and taxi journeys 'should' cost and then you can always give a little extra than that (depending on your haggling skills) as I think as a tourist you shouldn't necessarily expect to pay local prices.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I think it benefitted local people because the tour operator was so good and careful about taking us to small local places and I know our money went straight to local people.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Incredibly flexible authentic experience Review of Manakamana Treks & Expedition Day Tours I travelled with my husband to Nepal on the Charity Trek tour with the tour operator. From the outset Keshev and Achut were friendly, personal and eager to meet us, even taking us for momo or beer while we discussed what we wanted to do once wewerw back from our trip. The trekking part of the tour in the Holumba mountain region was beautiful and our guide and porter, Alé and Jeta, were so eager to make everything perfect for us. Alé was so attentive as we walked. I felt that he would not sleep for a week if either of us so much as stubbed a toe so it felt very safe! The best part was Alé deliberately brought us to local places which we might not have ventured to on our own for lunch and to stay and we never once went to a place full of other tourists that didn't feel like 'real' mountain life. Alé and Jeta even took time out in the evenings to chat with us as friends once they had established we didn't mind that and the evenings laughing over Raksi (which somehow they always ensured we drank more of) are some of my most treasured memories. Once back in Kathmandu for the city portion of our holiday we saw Achut and Keshev almost daily at Achut's invitation and the itinerary was incredibly flexible. Anything we wanted to see it fo Achut would help us arrange, and Keshev would always have information about an would take to us about it with infectious enthusiasm. I do not know how the experience could have been better. I heartily recommend the tour operator to anyone.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Just being away in the mountains and trekking around with my guide and porter in a completely natural way and mode.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

If someone would have told me there would be little other tourists and some places are still a bit underdeveloped after the earthquake I might have hesitated but it was so special and recommendable. There are no 5 star hotels of course but if you can do with a bit less you should absolutely go for it and not wait. I subscribed because I wanted to go with a group but in my case I ended up solo since my travel partner postponed and it was perfectly fine and I enjoyed every bit of the trek. I am just really happy I went for it. Oh and yes do try the yoga as well.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes I did, you can notice there haven't been very large tourist groups for a while now, so I really felt like one of the first new tourists after enough was rebuild for the area to slowly get back into business again. It just gives it a super time-zoned atmosphere. I was there in January though so that is low-season anyways. However, yes I do think our travelling around there generated some income for people who can use it very well.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

I remember some other really enthusiastic reviews, maybe read those to convince yourself :) Me going was based on those and I thought about them in the mountains and that I was so happy they were written and made me go, even if it was solo, so in whatever solo or group situation you want to go: good chance you'll think it's worth the trip :)

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

This is such a culturally different experience its hard to say what is most memorable or exciting. Meeting the challenges that trekking can provide builds a satisfaction. Walking through villages where the lifestyle has not changed for years - the people and their smallholdings are so interesting. Visiting temples is fascinating. Be prepared for the chaotic road traffic in Kathmandu but enjoy the Monkey Temple and the royal palace Narayanhiti Palace in Durbar Square and Pashupatinath where you can experience how the Hindus cremate their dead. In cotrast to that be a guest of a Nepali family and learn how to cook Dahl Bhat. The people are so welcoming. Achut is an amazing guy who will make your stay work for you and will include activities that you might suggest if at all possible.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Research what you would like to do in Nepal - Achut will do all he can to make it happen for you. Do check the level of difficulty of the trek you are going to do - but maybe you can achieve more than you think. Do try the yoga and Ayurvedic massage. On the Helambu valley trek it is possible to buy bottled water but for extra safety take chlorine dioxide tablets. If you want to be in a group - check with Achut.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Tourism is very important for the people of Nepal especially since the Earthquake. Our visits help to keep many small businesses going. Visits to a school and meeting village people affected by the earthquake helps in supporting them. You are helping guides and porters to earn a small living too.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Really interesting and full of surprises. it will leave a lasting memory. The guides, porters and drivers are all wonderful and as a single woman I felt completely safe in their care.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Trekking through the Helambu region for 5 days which was just simply beautiful. To not hear an engine of any kind or see a billboard for most of those days was incredible. Also I was also in Kathmandu on Christmas Eve and the trekking company provided a local Christmas dinner and gifts which was very thoughtful.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

I went in December, and although I didn't climb above 4000m, and we had blue skies every day, it could be very cold in the mornings and evenings. So be prepared (as always) for temperature changes. Night times were freezing so make sure you have a good sleeping bag and thermals if you travel in winter.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. the Trek supported the local villages as we ate with them on every stop for lunch and dinner.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

My first trip to Nepal and it was truly a wonderful experience and one I will certainly repeat. Two months later I am still bowled over by the beauty of the country and how welcome I was made to feel. I am sure I am annoying my friends because I can't stop talking about it two months later!
