Supported conservation as had to pay to enter national parks. Benefited local people and reduced environmental impacts. Cycling is the way to go.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Accommodation overall was good, cycling was great, bikes were good. Scenery fabulous. Particularly the ride through the Durmitor NP down to Pluzine. But also loved Skadar.Mary Fox review 7 Jun 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Stunning and often dramatic scenery, challenging but rewarding cycling, very friendly people, and delicious food.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
This was our second cycle tour in Montenegro with this company. On this occasion we opted for road bikes, which given some of the long and challenging climbs, were a better option than heavier hybrid touring bikes. Despite it being mid May we did experience some unseasonable weather during the first few days with heavy rain and lower temperatures. Having checked the weather forecast before arrival, we were well prepared to cope with this. Base layers and wet weather clothing were certainly put to good use. Although our average daily cycling distance was 60km, the first four days featured some challenging and often long climbs. For this reason, we would not recommend this tour to inexperienced cyclists unless having good overall fitness level or opting for an e-bike. Apart from a couple of short climbs on day 5, it and day 6 are generally easy cycling days. We took and used our own pedals and cleated cycling shoes which were certainly beneficial on the climbs. We received excellent information and advice from Dražen, our tour contact, at our welcome meeting where he explained what to expect on each stage, fully preparing us for all eventualities. Route directions and maps were comprehensive. GPX files for each route were forwarded on request prior to departure. This allowed them to be fully reviewed in advance. Particularly helpful was that each GPX route took us directly to our overnight accommodation, so we did not have any problems locating that on arrival in a new destination.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Being a cycling holiday ensures there is limited environmental impact. We used local restaurants, shops, and services throughout our trip. Much appreciated were the restaurant recommendations included in our itinerary. These did not not disappoint.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We experienced another great cycle tour organised. Communication was excellent from our initial enquiry until the end of the trip. Boris who dealt with our booking was responsive to all our requests and even adapted the itinerary to incorporate two rides into one day. Throughout the tour our contact, Dražen, was excellent. For example, at the end of day one, we were advised by our accommodation host that our route through Durmitor National Park was blocked due to snow. We immediately contacted Dražen, who that evening, organised an alternative route, provided a GPX file to upload on to a Garmin for navigation purposes and on arrival at a new destination arranged a transfer to Pluzine our intended destination for that day. We would certainly have no concerns booking another cycling holiday with them and we would highly recommend the service and support they provide. Cycle touring is a great way to experience all Montenegro has to offer.John Cook review 17 Jun 2023
